Frequently
asked questions

  • How much does luggage storage cost in Chiang Rai?

We charge from THB 100.00 per day (24 hours) for luggage storage in Chiang Rai.

  • Does Chiang Rai have luggage lockers?

Yes, but they're not always the best option. Luggage lockers can fill up quickly and may be unavailable when you need them. Some luggage lockers may be too small to fit large or bulky items. Unlike luggage lockers, we don't charge per hour and instead charge a flat rate for 24 hours of storage. We also have partners who watch over your stuff to make sure it's safe, and can answer any questions you may have or give you advice on what to do in Chiang Rai.

  • How does Bounce luggage storage work?

We partner with local businesses around the world who have secure spaces to store luggage for travelers. Just tell us how many bags you have and when you need storage, and we'll show you convenient places you can keep your stuff safe while you explore.

Booking online is super easy and only takes a couple of minutes. To keep our partners and your stuff safe, we'll show you the address of the store once you book online. When you're ready, head to the store and show the Bounce Partner your booking confirmation so they can take your bags and securely store them right away. Then you can enjoy your day without having to worry about your bags!

To pick up your bags, show the Bounce Partner your booking confirmation and they'll hand over your stuff. That's it!
  • Where is my luggage stored?

We only partner with trusted businesses who have a dedicated, secure place to keep your luggage safe. Some businesses may store luggage behind a counter that's off-limits to customers, while others may have storage rooms or closets for your luggage. But no matter where you choose to leave your luggage, our partners will keep it safe.

  • What can I store with Bounce?

Luggage, backpacks, gym bags, and more! Bounce is like having a personal storage facility for your stuff anywhere you go, so you can leave much more than just luggage with us. Whether you want to store your luggage after checking out of your Airbnb or want to drop off your work bag before hitting happy hour, we've got you covered.

We don't charge extra for oversized items, but some special items might need to be approved before you can store them. For example, surfboards, guitars, car seats, bicycles, or skis take up a lot of space, so let us know if you have them. We can check with the Bounce Partner for you to make sure they have room for your stuff.
  • Is there hourly luggage storage in Chiang Rai?

Yes, but many companies charge per hour and costs can add up fast. We charge one price for 24 hours of storage, so storing your stuff is more affordable in Chiang Rai.

  • How long can I leave my luggage with Bounce?

Whether you need storage for a couple of hours or a couple of days, we've got you covered! Just put in the dates and times you need luggage storage and we'll show you all of the available locations on our map. For long-term storage lasting more than a week, reach out to us and we'll help you find a convenient location.

If you're already storing your stuff but you need more time, you can add more time from your booking details page. Just make sure the store will be open and you can get your bags before your new pickup time.
  • How do I change or cancel my booking?

Plans change, we get it! If you need to change or cancel your booking for any reason, the best way to do it is from your booking details page in the Bounce app. You can edit the dates, drop-off and pick-up times, and number of bags. You can also cancel your booking or rebook at a nearby store. If you can't find your booking details, check the email address you used to make your booking. You can change your booking by following the link there, or reach out to us if you need support.

Chiang Rai City Guide

Top things to do

Thanks to the wealth of incredible attractions it has to offer, Chiang Rai is a popular tourist destination. You’re sure to enjoy visiting the incredible temples, learning about the indigenous groups of northern Thailand, sampling delicious Thai cuisine, and shopping for trinkets and souvenirs in the many street markets. Bounce has put together this handy guide to help you plan your itinerary.

Museums

Chiang Rai is home to an array of fascinating museums and cultural sites where you can learn about the local indigenous cultures, admire folk art, or appreciate impressive architecture. The following are a few compelling options that deserve a spot on your Chiang Rai itinerary. Take advantage of short-term luggage storage with Bounce before you head in, as most museums won’t permit you to enter with luggage in tow.

  • Mae Fah Luang Art and Culture Park: This fascinating museum is dedicated to preserving the culture and traditional skills of ethnic minority groups from northern Thailand. The museum sits on a large property that holds an incredible garden made up of trees and other plants native to the area. The museum itself contains an extensive collection of Lanna folk art and artifacts, largely made with teakwood.
  • Hill Tribe Museum: The Hill Tribe museum highlights the culture of nine hill tribes from Thailand. Inside, you’ll learn about their traditional clothing, tools, arts, and how they made use of natural materials and adapted to their evolving environments. Your visit is self-led but there are knowledgeable, passionate docents on-site to answer any questions you have as you go through.
  • Baan Dam Museum: This museum is dedicated to internationally renowned Thai artist, architect, and sculptor Thawan Duchanee. The Baan Dam museum is his former home, which he designed himself. There are about 40 different structures on the property, housing Duchanee’s paintings, sculptures, and other items he had collected such as animal skeletons, taxidermy items, and gold artifacts. If you’re looking for a fascinating, but offbeat experience, this might be it!

Shopping

Whether you’re looking for inexpensive souvenirs, want to experience a local market, or are on the hunt for a beautiful memento of your trip, there are many great shopping areas throughout Chiang Rai. Here are a few places to include on your itinerary.

  • Chiang Rai Night Bazaar: On the hunt for street food or bargain shopping? The Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is the perfect place to pick up souvenirs, handicrafts, and inexpensive clothing items or sample Thai cuisine on a budget. In the food section of the market, you’ll find fresh fruits and vegetables, smoothies, hot pot, kebabs, and much more! This night market is a little more on the touristy side of the spectrum when it comes to shopping, but still makes a fun place to visit.
  • Saturday Night Walking Street: If you’re looking for a more market experience with a local vibe, this street is the place to go. The 1-kilometer stretch is packed with vendors and food stalls and offers live entertainment as you shop. You’ll find plenty of souvenirs and inexpensive clothing items as well as delicious and authentic Thai food to nibble on as you shop.
  • CentralPlaza Chiang Rai: If you’re looking for a traditional shopping mall experience, or somewhere to retreat from the heat, CentralPlaza is a great option. This shopping center holds nearly 300 retailers selling everything from clothing items to books and stationery, electronics, and beyond. There is also a large dining section, a movie theatre, karaoke, and a game center. You’ll have no trouble filling half a day (or more) inside this mall!

Dining

Thailand’s incredible food is one of many reasons to visit this beautiful country, and Chiang Rai is no exception. Whether you prefer to eat at street carts or upmarket restaurants, here are a few local specialties you should be sure to try while in Chiang Rai.

  • Khao Soi Gai Nong: This tasty dish consists of a yellow coconut curry soup containing a chicken leg and fried egg noodles. It is typically garnished with onions, lime, and pickled cabbage. It’s commonly found throughout Chiang Rai, so be on the lookout for it wherever you dine.
  • Sai Ooa: Sai Ooa is a spicy grilled sausage that originates from Northern Thailand and Burma. It is made up of pork meat, red curry paste, and a combination of spices. It is typically served as a starter or alongside a plate of vegetables and rice.
  • Nam Prik: Nam Prik is a chili dip that comes in two varieties, Nam Prik Noom is a green chili dip, and Nam Prik Ong is a red dip made with a tomato base. Both dips are typically paired with steam vegetables and sausage or pork rinds.
