More about Rabat

Store Your Luggage Around Rabat With Bounce

Rabat is the capital of Morocco and its seventh largest city with a population of about 600,000. The city was founded by the ruler of Almohad, Abd al-Mumin in the 12th century. The town was taken over by Barbary pirates until the French established a protectorate in Morocco in 1912. Today it is a busy vacation town and was even listed as one of the Top Travel Destinations in 2013 by CNN.

Located at the mouth of the Bou Regreg River on the Atlantic Ocean, the beaches make Rabat a popular tourist spot as well. Lined with palm trees and quiet streets, Rabat is a charming spot to spend the day. Besides being a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors, it is also a historical spot where you can visit many memorials and museums.

You may also enjoy a visit to the Rabat Zoo, where you can see over 130 species, including hippos, giraffes, and lions. Check out the Andalusian Gardens as well, which were planned and laid out by Maurice Tranchant de Lunel in the late 1800s. The Fort de la Calette Lighthouse, built in 1920, is also a fantastic spot to visit.
