As you might have guessed, spending time at the beach is among Calvi's main attractions, but that doesn't mean that this town is a one-hit wonder. Its location on the northwest coast is an ideal jumping-off point to tour the many quaint (and very scenic) villages in the Balagne region. Museums in Calvi

The Citadel

While not technically a museum in the strictest sense, Calvi's citadel is steeped in history. The area was built by the Genoese. The first fortifications in the upper town were made in the 13th century, and construction on the tower began in the 1450s. Musée des Arts de la Citadelle de Calvi (MUDACC)

Occi ruins

Located about a 15-minute drive from Calvi above the town of Lumio, you'll find the abandoned village of Occi. It was completely deserted in the 19th century, and the very last resident died here in 1918. As people moved down the hill to Lumio, the village started to decline in just about every way. There is no museum per se here, but a stroll through the abandoned village is definitely a glimpse back in time.
