Originally, this museum was intended simply to house the Gorgon pediment of the Artemis temple. However, over time, two more halls were added to the museum. Today, the pediment remains but there are also items from the old town and the Garitsa cemetery. Gold paneled armor is in another wing of the museum and beautiful jewelry is displayed as well. This part of Greece, with its contact with the Ionian Sea, offers history lovers the chance to see the connections between Greece and the wider world for centuries.
