In the northern section of India is Delhi, the capital. The city has a population of 11 million people, making it the second most populated city in India. This very old city has been inhabited since the 6th Century BC, mostly as the capital of empires and kingdoms. This includes the Mughal Empire and the Delhi Sultanate. Although it has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the years, the city has prospered and is now known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
Being a humid subtropical climate, Delhi is typically in the upper 90s from April until August. Bring sunscreen and light clothing. Public transportation is well-established and efficient with the Delhi Metro as the fastest and easiest way to get around. And since the city has been around so long, there are over one thousand old heritage buildings, 175 monuments, and dozens of fantastic museums to enjoy while you are there.
Spend some time outdoors, enjoying the pleasant weather. There are more than 20 awesome parks within a few minutes of the city, like the Japanese Park on Swarn Jayanti Park Road and the Jheel Wala Park on Hardikar Road. Both of these have water features, so you can cool off a bit if you get too hot. Or check out the Zoological Garden between Humayun’s Tomb and Purana Quila.
