Store Your Luggage Around Fort Myers with Bounce

For the traveler, Fort Myers has an incredible amount to offer. Its position means that one has easy access to both the everglades and the beach, and its year-round warm weather makes outdoor activities a major drawcard.

The pier provides not just a focal point but offers a great place to stroll, especially when combined with a visit to Times Square which sits just behind the pier. Here you can take a wander while enjoying an ice cream or sit down and dine, all while still wearing your bathing clothes.

The historic River District is beautifully preserved and really starts to come to life in the late afternoon and evening as it fills up with diners and people looking to enjoy a cocktail or a cool beer.

The town doesn't lack cultural options for those wishing a change from the many outdoor activities. You will have no trouble finding museums, art galleries, and some great shopping.

With so many options available to you, there is one important factor to bear in mind. Any visit is going to be made far less pleasant if you are dragging your luggage with you. Bounce luggage storage services are readily available and they will be able to solve this problem for you.

Luggage Storage at Fort Myers

Luggage storage is often a problem for the traveler. You need large suitcases for your ongoing travels but you don’t want to be stuck with them when you explore one of your chosen destinations. Bounce understands this and so they have made short-term luggage storage easy for you.

By linking up with local partners, they are able to offer easy-to-access storage facilities that can be booked online and which include free insurance.

Things to do in Fort Myers

This beach town with its easy access to the everglades offers wide-ranging options for the outdoor enthusiast. That doesn't mean that cultural aspects of traveling have been forgotten. There is a rich history here as well as a thriving art scene and it is highly recommended that you abandon the white sands occasionally to explore some of these options.

Museums

  • Edison and Ford Winter Estates: Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were two of America’s most renowned inventors and entrepreneurs. When Edison purchased a piece of land in Fort Meyers to build Seminole Lodge, it didn’t take him too much effort to persuade his friend Henry Ford to come and visit.

Henry promptly purchased the neighboring estate, The Mangoes, and the two families used these estates as their winter retreats from then on. Now, having had a $14 million revamp, both estates are open to the public and are a matter of huge pride to the people of Fort Myers. This is a fascinating visit that offers insight into the lives of two of the foremost families in the US but unfortunately, it won't be viable to tour with large bags, so think about using a Bounce locker facility nearby.

  • IMAG History and Science Center: This is an interesting visit, especially if you are traveling with kids. They will be able to see all manner of marine life as well as alligators. They also have a ray-touching area which is always a favorite with younger members of the family. On top of that, there are numerous interactive activities with a science theme to them. There is no luggage storage facility for large bags but one of the nearby Bounce luggage storage services will quickly solve that problem for you.
  • Railroad Museum of South Florida: Florida has an interesting history of locomotive construction and this museum is going to be a must-see for any train enthusiast. There is the museum itself, but there are also restored steam engines and a caboose where you can get up close to these giant machines that played such an important role in opening up vast tracts of America. You will also be able to take a ride on a miniature train through the stunning grounds. As you won't be able to take luggage, contact your nearest Bounce storage facility and let them care for your bags while you explore.

Shopping

You will not be short of shopping options while you are in Fort Myers. Whether you are looking for malls or smaller boutiques and craft shops, there will be an option for you.

  • Edison Mall: This is one of the largest malls in the area with six hundred outlets for you to choose from. Anchor clients will be familiar with names such as Macey's, Sears, and JC Penny's. There is plenty of parking and you will have no trouble finding somewhere to eat or grab a coffee while you shop.
  • Bell Towers Shops: This is not a mall but a collection of individual shops built around a central square. Recently renovated, the square often hosts musicians and fashion shows and there are some good restaurants to choose from.
  • The Shell Factory: This is a good destination if you are shopping for mementos and if you are accompanied by kids. There is a zip line and play area and the 65,000 square feet of shopping facilities have everything from clothes to Christmas decorations. As the name suggests, seas shells feature heavily, with the main showroom displaying more than five million shells.

Dining

Let’s face it. Traveling and dining go hand in hand. What kind of a break would it be if you didn’t come back with a few extra pounds on your hips? Fort Myers is home to all sorts of restaurants so you won’t lack for options on the eating front.

  • Italian: Everyone loves Italian food and Fort Myers hosts some good ones. The Standard is owned by a pair of brothers who together bring together more than fifty years of culinary expertise. Everything is cooked from scratch using fresh local ingredients.  If you can’t get in there then try either the Terra Nostra or il Pomodoro.
  • Seafood: The best place to eat seafood is always when you are close to the sea. Fort Myers has some great seafood restaurants and you should try to get into at least one or two of them while you are there. Island View at the Lani Kai Island resort offers top-end dining combined with a fabulous view of the gulf from its sixth-floor position. Others worth a visit are the Parrot Key Caribbean Grill and Coste Island Cuisine.

Steak: Seafood is not the only thing on the menu in Fort Myers. Despite the close proximity to the ocean, you can still enjoy a mouth-watering steak at one of a number of different restaurants. The Saloon specializes in hand-cut steaks. To make them just that little bit more delicious, they grill them over a hickory and applewood fire. Doc Ford's Rum Bar and Grill is another one to consider, as is Tanglewood at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point.
