- Fremantle Prison: Frequently referred to as the Fremantle Jail or Fremantle Gaol, this former Australian prison sits on just over 14 acres. Take a guided tour through the cellblocks, along the perimeter walls and through the gatehouse and cottages. Then follow your guide through the tunnels beneath the prison. Learn about the 1988 prison riot where guards were taken hostage, and the prison was set on fire. The prison was originally built to house convicts that were transported from Britain but was handed over to the Australian government in 1886. It officially closed in 1991 when the Casuarina Prison was opened.
- WA Maritime Museum: This amazing waterfront museum looks out over the Indian Ocean and is home to several exhibits showcasing Fremantle’s history and present.
