Store your luggage around Paphos with Bounce

One of Cyprus’s true gems, Paphos is located on the southwestern coast of the island. The whole place is literally a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as some of the most well-preserved and famous ruins are situated near Paphos’s city city. From Roman villas to ancient Hellenic temples, the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park is a history buff’s dream.

There’s also plenty of culture and leisure to be had in Paphos. The beaches around Coral Bay boast superb conditions for swimming and water sports, and the seaside restaurants and bars overlooking the water are perfect for a romantic evening. Cypriot cuisine is absolutely exceptional, blending familiar  Mediterranean elements with a local twist. There’s even a bit of shopping to be done throughout the historic city center.

Here’s everything you need to know about visiting Paphos:

Luggage storage in Paphos

You’ll be doing quite a bit of sightseeing through the historic treasures of Paphos, so you won’t want to deal with your luggage if you’re trying to sneak in a bit of culture on travel days. Instead of worrying about museum locker sizes, a short rental period, or availability at museums and attractions, you should look into a luggage storage service like Bounce.

Bounce has locations all over Paphos, so it’s easy to find a convenient place to store the bags. You can book in advance or on the go with our convenient mobile app, so you won’t have to worry about whether or not a museum will have an open locker that fits your suitcases and belongings! Bags stored with Bounce also come with BounceShield Protection, which ensures quality of service, and there’s 24/7 mobile support.

Paphos city guide

Top things to do in Paphos

The primary tourist attractions in Paphos are based around the legendary Paphos Archaeological Park, with the Tombs of the Kings and House of Dionysus as the premier historical landmarks in the city. While ancient Hellenic history is as plentiful in Paphos, you can’t explore ruins all day (some real history nerds will dispute that), so it’s best to spice things up by experiencing some culture while you’re in town. Cypriot food is exceptional, so trying some of Paphos’s superb Mediterranean and traditional restaurants is a great way to cap off a great day. There’s even some shopping to be done throughout town.

Museums in Paphos

Tomb of Kings

The most popular feature of Kato Paphos Archaeological Park is a subterranean labyrinthine necropolis of tombs where Cypriot leaders were buried in the 4th century BC. While no actual monarchs were ever interned here, the impressive architectural features were inspired by the lavish burials of Egyptian rulers. The tombs are carved into the sandstone caves, and you can explore them all. However, this will take plenty of time. If you’ve been exploring the Archaeological Park on a sunny day, the caves offer a wonderful respite from the sun and heat.

Tomb of Kings Bag Policy

There isn’t a bag policy prohibiting luggage or other large items at the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, but there aren't luggage storage facilities on site, either.

Paphos Castle

Not every historical landmark is situated within the confines of Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, so you'll have to head just outside Paphos city center for this fantastic Byzantine Fortress overlooking the harbor. You can tour the fairly well-preserved ruins, including the interior, which provides an idea of what it was like for Byzantine colonists occupying Cyprus. The main attraction is the stellar view of the harbor, city, and coast from the castle walls.

Paphos Castle Bag Policy

Bags and other items are allowed inside Paphos Castle, but it will be monstrously inconvenient to explore this ruin with your belongings.

The House of Dionysus

Situated in Paphos Archaeological Park, this is one of the premier archaeological treasures in Cyprus. Honoring Dionysus (the vaguely malevolent anti-hero god of wine who was understandably very popular with ancient Hellenic folks), this ancient temple boasts some of the most vibrant and well-preserved architectural features of any landmark in Paphos.

Despite being partially destroyed by an earthquake centuries ago, the temple still offers some amazing sightseeing. The Roman Mosaics are particularly fetching, with intricate tile patterns depicting the beloved god and his lavish (perhaps hedonistic) lifestyle.

The House of Dionysus Bag Policy

As of right now, the Kato Paphos Archaeology Park doesn’t have a bag policy prohibiting luggage. However, the rugged terrain will make it difficult to get around with a roller bag.

If you’re planning on sightseeing through Paphos for a few hours on a travel day, you’ll want to book ahead of time through Bounce. With multiple luggage storage locations near the best landmarks, Bounce provides the perfect alternative to luggage lockers and their hidden fees.

Shopping in Paphos

Poseidonos Avenue

You’ll absolutely be enjoying the seaside promenade when you’re poking around Paphos, but don't skip the row of shops along Poseidonos Avenue (named for the Greek god of the sea). This delightful boardwalk is the primary stretch of retail for Paphos, and you’ll find some of the city’s best boutiques along with plenty of beachwear stores and gift shops. There are also a few wonderful jewelry stores worth stopping in, just in case your romantic getaway to Paphos needs an added touch (hint, hint).

Kings Avenue Mall

If you forgot to pack something or need to shop, you can always stop at this dependable shopping mall near the heart of Paphos. It’s a recent addition to the city, so Kings Avenue Mall provides a sleek and streamlined shopping experience with over 100 stores and the best designer brands. It’s the ideal backup plan for a rainy day.

Paphos Town Market

This traditional town market is the perfect place to shop for gifts and souvenirs, as local artisans set up shop to sell their handmade wares. You can shop for clothing, textiles, gifts, pottery, jewelry, and more, all while enjoying views of the sea.

Most of these shopping destinations are based around Paphos’s beautiful historic town center, and even the mall doesn’t offer modern amenities. Without access to lockers, you’ll want to find a luggage storage location through Bounce before heading out on a shopping spree. You can book online and won’t have to worry about security at a mall locker office. Even better, with the right Bounce location, you can find a spot that serves multiple shopping destinations.

Restaurants in Paphos

Porto Bello

It's hard to argue with a traditional Italian restaurant, even if you’re visiting a remote island like Cyprus for the first time. Looking around this cozy spot, you could be forgiven for assuming you're in the Cinque Terre in Italy (not that crazy, given they’re on the same sea). The tablecloths, the hand-fashioned wooden chairs, and the comfortable terrace all add picturesque features that complement the menu of Italian classics perfectly. Seafood pasta and risotto are some obvious choices, but the catch-of-the-day offerings are hard to pass up, especially with an incredible wine program that pairs each dish with an imported Italian vintage.

Laona Restaurant

If you want that quintessential experience of eating in a tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant off a narrow alley, head to this traditional Cypriot restaurant in Paphos Old Town. The owner will be patrolling the tables, shaking hands, and thanking you for your patronage, which is the perfect touch for a no-frills place like this. Expect favorites Cypriot Lasagne (Pastitsio) or Egg Lemon Soup (Avgolemono) that will satisfy the hunger you built up while exploring the Archaeological Park.

St. Georges Tavern

This wine bar specializes in meze (shareable dips that precede just about every Greek and Cypriot meal) and is the perfect place to head with a group. You’ll want to try a little bit of everything, especially the roasted meats seasoned to perfection, the freshly baked pitas, and the savory spreads. There are also local favorites like Cyprus almond shortbread (kourabiedes) and a hearty octopus stew. For meze, pair it with some eliopita (olive bread).

Most of the best restaurants in Paphos have beautiful outdoor terraces, which is why this city is so great for romantic getaways. Rolling your luggage through a moody Italian trattoria or cozy Cypriot restaurant is the best way to take the romance out of the atmosphere, so leave the bags with Bounce before heading to dinner. Bounce strategically places our luggage storage locations near dining hotspots for a reason.

Conclusion

Bounce is clearly the best option for luggage storage Paphos has to offer, so if you need to safely store baggage while sightseeing and exploring this historic gem, you’ll know who to trust. With so many convenient luggage storage locations in places like Ayia Napa and other island destinations such as Rhodes and Heraklion in Greece, the best way to enjoy Paphos is bag-free and hassle-free is Bounce.
