About Gare du Palais
At first glance, one might think that Gare du Palais is a castle of some sort. In reality, it’s one of the most frequently used train and bus stations in Québec City. Gare du Palais (or “Palace Station” in English,) was built centuries ago, in 1915. However, records indicate that there were plans to build Gare du Palais back in 1850, at least. Prindle was inspired by the architecture of Loire Valley and wanted to give Gare du Palais a “Château de la Loire” aesthetic. This is the reason why this building looks more like an ornate castle or a mansion than a train station. Gare du Palais is easily one of Québec City’s most iconic landmarks; a visit to “la Capitale Nationale” isn’t complete without a quick stroll through the station.
