Frequently
asked questions

  • How much does luggage storage cost in San Jose?

We charge from $3.90 per day (24 hours) for luggage storage in San Jose.

  • Does San Jose have luggage lockers?

Yes, but they're not always the best option. Luggage lockers can fill up quickly and may be unavailable when you need them. Some luggage lockers may be too small to fit large or bulky items. Unlike luggage lockers, we don't charge per hour and instead charge a flat rate for 24 hours of storage. We also have partners who watch over your stuff to make sure it's safe, and can answer any questions you may have or give you advice on what to do in San Jose.

  • How does Bounce luggage storage work?

We partner with local businesses around the world who have secure spaces to store luggage for travelers. Just tell us how many bags you have and when you need storage, and we'll show you convenient places you can keep your stuff safe while you explore.

Booking online is super easy and only takes a couple of minutes. To keep our partners and your stuff safe, we'll show you the address of the store once you book online. When you're ready, head to the store and show the Bounce Partner your booking confirmation so they can take your bags and securely store them right away. Then you can enjoy your day without having to worry about your bags!

To pick up your bags, show the Bounce Partner your booking confirmation and they'll hand over your stuff. That's it!
  • Where is my luggage stored?

We only partner with trusted businesses who have a dedicated, secure place to keep your luggage safe. Some businesses may store luggage behind a counter that's off-limits to customers, while others may have storage rooms or closets for your luggage. But no matter where you choose to leave your luggage, our partners will keep it safe.

  • What can I store with Bounce?

Luggage, backpacks, gym bags, and more! Bounce is like having a personal storage facility for your stuff anywhere you go, so you can leave much more than just luggage with us. Whether you want to store your luggage after checking out of your Airbnb or want to drop off your work bag before hitting happy hour, we've got you covered.

We don't charge extra for oversized items, but some special items might need to be approved before you can store them. For example, surfboards, guitars, car seats, bicycles, or skis take up a lot of space, so let us know if you have them. We can check with the Bounce Partner for you to make sure they have room for your stuff.
  • Is there hourly luggage storage in San Jose?

Yes, but many companies charge per hour and costs can add up fast. We charge one price for 24 hours of storage, so storing your stuff is more affordable in San Jose.

  • How long can I leave my luggage with Bounce?

Whether you need storage for a couple of hours or a couple of days, we've got you covered! Just put in the dates and times you need luggage storage and we'll show you all of the available locations on our map. For long-term storage lasting more than a week, reach out to us and we'll help you find a convenient location.

If you're already storing your stuff but you need more time, you can add more time from your booking details page. Just make sure the store will be open and you can get your bags before your new pickup time.
  • How do I change or cancel my booking?

Plans change, we get it! If you need to change or cancel your booking for any reason, the best way to do it is from your booking details page in the Bounce app. You can edit the dates, drop-off and pick-up times, and number of bags. You can also cancel your booking or rebook at a nearby store. If you can't find your booking details, check the email address you used to make your booking. You can change your booking by following the link there, or reach out to us if you need support.

San Jose City Guide

Top Things to Do

With so much to experience while in San Jose, boredom will be chased away by your enthusiasm for just being in Costa Rica. Get out and explore the city to learn about history and culture. Breathe in the fresh air when out in the parks and reserves found in and around the city. Spend time shopping for souvenirs or gifts that you will only find in this picturesque place. It may be a bit overwhelming trying to figure out what to see and do, so Bounce has come up with a few must-see places for you to get your Costa Rican experience started.

Museums

Immerse yourself in San Jose culture by spending time soaking up the sun with the locals, wandering through musty museums, and examining the old-world architecture that makes up much of the city’s charm. It really doesn’t matter why you are in San Jose, Costa Rica. The only thing that matters is that you can explore this wonderfully exotic city.

  • Museo del Jade: For those who only speak English, the Jade Museum is home to one of the biggest collections of American jade in the entire world. The museum is laid out by region, making it easy for visitors to navigate and enjoy each exhibit on each of the five floors. Wander through and see amazing jade artifacts as well as stonework, gold pieces, and ceramics.
  • San Gerardo de Dota: Get outside and enjoy that beautiful Costa Rican climate and maybe enjoy a bit of bird watching. San Gerardo de Dota is the best place in Costa Rica to do so, with about 200 different bird species calling the park home. With the Cordillera de Talamanca as a backdrop with its rolling hills and lush greenery, you will find hiking through the San Gerardo de Dota to be relaxing and invigorating at the same time.
  • Teatro Nacional: Visit the most honored building in San Jose, the Teatro Nacional, located on the southern end of the Plaza de la Cultura. Built in 1897, the entrance to the building is flanked by statues of Calderón de la Barca and Beethoven. Get tickets for one of the fantastic shows put on here or sign up for a behind-the-scenes tour.

Shopping

Bring your wallet and an extra suitcase when you visit San Jose. You will find fantastic bargains, one-of-a-kind souvenirs, and unique gift ideas for those back home. Be sure to spend an afternoon shopping at some of the malls and artisan shops before you have to head back.

  • Tienda Eñe: When looking for Costa Rican designers, head over to Tienda Eñe, the first boutique to focus solely on designers from Costa Rica. You can find fantastic clothing, accessories, and gifts for that special someone.
  • Centro Commercial Plaza La Amistad: This smaller mall is still a busy place and great for a relaxing morning of retail therapy. Browse through the shops or drop by the pet store for a little snuggle time with a kitten or puppy. Grab a cup of coffee or a quick snack at the food court.
