Museums

Bail’s history is incredibly complex; the province has seen many political, cultural, and geographical changes over the years. One could spend hours reading about Bali online and only scratch the surface of things. Thankfully, there are a slew of great museums located throughout the entire province. A few of those museums are situated in Sanur. Guests are encouraged to stop by and learn as much as they can.

• Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA): Much of Bali’s culture and history lives in its art. Mr. Agung Rai realized this and opened ARMA to preserve as much art as he could. Over the years, ARMA has become increasingly popular among tourists and locals alike. Agung Rai Museum of Art features an amazing cafe and restaurant, a learning center for young children, and live performances at least 4 days each week.
• Threads of Life: For many Indonesian citizens, weaving isn’t just a tradition - it’s a way to put food on their table and clothes on their backs. Consequently, Threads of Life isn’t just a museum that showcases Indonesian textiles - it sells items created by local independent weavers and companies.
• Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppets: Masks and puppets are integral to many Asian and Southeast Asian plays. By extension, masks and puppets are integral to the culture and history of those regions. Guests who visit the Setia Darma House of Mask and Puppets will find a curated collection of thousands of masks and puppets. Guests are also more than welcome to take photos of these ancient heirlooms.

Shopping

A coastal resort area like Sanur wouldn’t be complete with an amazing shopping scene. Thankfully, Sanur has a bevy of fantastic places to shop at; from upscale stores to lowkey markets, shoppers will have their hands full.

• Art Market Kumbasari: This market is the one stop shop for artists in Bali. Tools and materials for almost every craft can be purchased here. Art Market Kumbasari is also a great place to buy novelty items and souvenirs. The works of local artists are occasionally featured here as well.
• Pasar Badung Market: The Pasar Badung Market is the best place to do most general shopping; produce, snacks, and everything in between is on sale here. This market is also one of the largest shopping centers in the area.
• Sindhu Beach Market: The Sindhu Beach Market is something of a hidden gem; tucked away at the edge of Sanur, this shop is very lowkey. However, guests who manage to find it often fall in love with the market’s charm and unique wares. 

Dining

Indonesian cuisine is quite savory and unique. Unfortunately, there aren’t many large restaurant chains that specialize in Indonesian dishes. Fortunately, there are plenty of great places to eat in Sanur. The way we see it, anyone who’s visiting Sanur has a rare opportunity to sample some of the world’s most underrated dishes and spread the word when they get home.

• Cafe Batu Jimbar: Cafe Batu Jimbar is a big fan favorite in Sanur. This restaurant specializes in Indonesian dishes, but also serves Asian and European delicacies. Some of Cafe Batu Jimbar’s most popular items include Pukkolla Muesli and Bebek Betutu.
• Charming Resto Sanur: Charming Resto Sanur has a menu that’s heavily inspired by French cuisine. In particular, Charming’s escargot and crepe Suzette dishes are major standouts. This restaurant is only open during dinner time, however, so guests should use Bounce and book a reservation ASAP. 
• The Village Cucina Italiana: Anyone who’s craving a bit of Italian cuisine will love this restaurant. The Village Cucina Italiana specializes in pastas, pizzas, and Italian desserts. If guests stop by during the morning, they can try the Cucina’s prix-fixe menu.
