Frequently
asked questions

  • How much does luggage storage cost in Chiba?

We charge from ¥450 per day (24 hours) for luggage storage in Chiba.

  • Does Chiba have luggage lockers?

Yes, but they're not always the best option. Luggage lockers can fill up quickly and may be unavailable when you need them. Some luggage lockers may be too small to fit large or bulky items. Unlike luggage lockers, we don't charge per hour and instead charge a flat rate for 24 hours of storage. We also have partners who watch over your stuff to make sure it's safe, and can answer any questions you may have or give you advice on what to do in Chiba.

  • How does Bounce luggage storage work?

We partner with local businesses around the world who have secure spaces to store luggage for travelers. Just tell us how many bags you have and when you need storage, and we'll show you convenient places you can keep your stuff safe while you explore.

Booking online is super easy and only takes a couple of minutes. To keep our partners and your stuff safe, we'll show you the address of the store once you book online. When you're ready, head to the store and show the Bounce Partner your booking confirmation so they can take your bags and securely store them right away. Then you can enjoy your day without having to worry about your bags!

To pick up your bags, show the Bounce Partner your booking confirmation and they'll hand over your stuff. That's it!
  • Where is my luggage stored?

We only partner with trusted businesses who have a dedicated, secure place to keep your luggage safe. Some businesses may store luggage behind a counter that's off-limits to customers, while others may have storage rooms or closets for your luggage. But no matter where you choose to leave your luggage, our partners will keep it safe.

  • What can I store with Bounce?

Luggage, backpacks, gym bags, and more! Bounce is like having a personal storage facility for your stuff anywhere you go, so you can leave much more than just luggage with us. Whether you want to store your luggage after checking out of your Airbnb or want to drop off your work bag before hitting happy hour, we've got you covered.

We don't charge extra for oversized items, but some special items might need to be approved before you can store them. For example, surfboards, guitars, car seats, bicycles, or skis take up a lot of space, so let us know if you have them. We can check with the Bounce Partner for you to make sure they have room for your stuff.
  • Is there hourly luggage storage in Chiba?

Yes, but many companies charge per hour and costs can add up fast. We charge one price for 24 hours of storage, so storing your stuff is more affordable in Chiba.

  • How long can I leave my luggage with Bounce?

Whether you need storage for a couple of hours or a couple of days, we've got you covered! Just put in the dates and times you need luggage storage and we'll show you all of the available locations on our map. For long-term storage lasting more than a week, reach out to us and we'll help you find a convenient location.

If you're already storing your stuff but you need more time, you can add more time from your booking details page. Just make sure the store will be open and you can get your bags before your new pickup time.
  • How do I change or cancel my booking?

Plans change, we get it! If you need to change or cancel your booking for any reason, the best way to do it is from your booking details page in the Bounce app. You can edit the dates, drop-off and pick-up times, and number of bags. You can also cancel your booking or rebook at a nearby store. If you can't find your booking details, check the email address you used to make your booking. You can change your booking by following the link there, or reach out to us if you need support.

Chiba City Guide

Top Things to Do

It can be intimidating and maybe a little bit frustrating trying to plan an itinerary when visiting a new city, especially a new city in a different country. Spend time in museums, at beaches, in the mountains, or even meditating in a temple. Look for gifts for loved ones back home or that perfect something to remember your trip. Immerse yourself in authentic Japanese cuisine and learn about the flavors and techniques used to create amazing dishes. Bounce has come up with a few lists to get you started and put you on the right track to a successful and relaxing getaway.

Museums

Spend time learning about the history of Japan while you explore all that Chiba has to offer. Whether you are touring interesting museums, visiting sacred temples, or spending time browsing through the shops, there is always something spectacular to grab your attention and send you on another adventure. Meditate while visiting one of the shrines throughout the city, visit the zoo and spend the day with the animals, or head indoors and discover the history and art that is Chiba.

  • Hoki Museum: Located in the neighborhood of Midori-ku near the Toki Station, the Hoki Museum houses over 300 art pieces dedicated to photorealistic paintings. Wander through and note the work of Noda Hiroshi, Taro Nakamoto, Morimoto Sosuke, and Tomohiko Yamanashi. After you have toured the museum, stop by the café for a drink and a quick snack.
  • Myokenhongu Chiba Shrine: Stroll around this tranquil shine where people come to pray and meditate. Sit quietly and listen to the stillness, drawing strength and peace from the simplistic design and décor. Unlike many shrines located throughout Japan, this shrine does not boast ornate furnishings, but rather a simple, utilitarian design.
  • Chiba Zoological Park: Spend an afternoon wandering through the zoo, watching the animals and keepers. Accessed by the Chiba Monorail, the zoo offers so many different things to see and do. Spend time in the reptile house or visit the larger safari animals. At every turn, there is something new and exciting to see and do. Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop before leaving for some fantastic souvenirs.

Shopping

You may not have decided to visit Chiba for its fantastic shopping, but you will soon discover some of the best hidden gems of the city. Search for amazing one-of-a-kind souvenirs or simply window shop throughout some of the larger malls. Drop into the boutiques and quaint shops and browse the wares offered. No matter what you are searching for, you will be able to find it in Chiba.

  • Aeon Mall Makuhari Shintoshin: This family mall offers a bit of everything. You can shop the latest fashions, pick up unique accessories, keep up with the newest electronics, and even do some grocery shopping, all under one roof. Take a break from shopping and grab lunch at the food court or in one of the sit-down restaurants.
  • Mitsui Outlet Park Makuhari: While not your typical outlet mall, this mall offers several stores dedicated to Japanese brands that you may not be familiar with. Fantastic bargains await, and you can find merchandise that is not easily found anywhere but Japan. More commonly known stores such as Kate Spade, Lego, Crocs, and Coach are also located at this mall.
  • Mio: Located just across from the train station, Mio has become a busy retail hub filled with boutiques and shops offering everything from the latest fashions to everyday basic necessities. Spend time shopping, then sit down to a leisurely meal where you can relax and watch other shoppers bustling by.

Dining

Be sure to partake in the entire Chiba experience, including the local fare. Japanese cuisine in Japan is somewhat different than the Japanese fare you have tasted in the States. Sushi and sake in Chiba is indeed something you will not want to miss. Bring your appetite and your sense of adventure and get to know Chiba through the cuisine. If you happen to leave your sense of adventure at home, no worries, you can find fantastic international cuisine that you are more familiar such as Italian, American, French, and Mexican.

  • Sushi: You have not had sushi until you have eaten it while sitting in a restaurant in Chiba. Flavors mix together and explode on your tongue when you eat at Sakae Sushi. Try one of their specials such as the salmon stick sushi or akagi string sushi. Visit during lunch and take part in the rice cake service and enjoy a cup of fragrant coffee.
  • Steakhouses: Even Japan has its fair share of steakhouses complete with authentic steakhouse décor. Outback Steakhouse – Makuhariten is a popular place to enjoy dinner, and they serve the juiciest prime rib or roast beef in the city. You may need reservations if you are hoping to eat here on the weekends.
  • Barbeque: Authentic Japanese-style barbeque can be found at Makuhari Shintoshin located in the Toraji Aeon Mall. Friendly staff will put you at ease and make your dining experience enjoyable. Order one of the specials and enjoy a bowl of egg soup and rice along with your main entrée.
