Annecy dates back to Roman times, before becoming part of the courts of Geneva in the 10th century. It then passed to the Dukes of Savoy in the 14th century and didn't become a part of modern France until the mid-19th century. It is currently the seventh-largest metropolitan area in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the capital of the Haute-Savoie department.

Basilica of Saint-Joseph-des-Fins d'Annecy: The Basilica of Saint-Joseph-des-Fins d'Annecy is the most important church in Annecy. The basilica was designed in the 1930s by famous monk architect Dom Bellot and features classic southern French architecture.
The church is best-known for its bells. In 1950, the city of Annecy produced 57 replicas of the Liberty Bell used during the American War of Independence, as a gift to the USA. One of these bells was given back to Annecy by the US government and is used in the Basilica of Saint-Joseph-des-Fins d'Annecy's bell tower as one of its four bells. Another popular sight from the Basilica of Saint-Joseph-des-Fins d'Annecy is its grand organ, which dates back to the late 19th century.
Lake Annecy: Lake Annecy is the third-largest lake in France, covering over 10 square miles to the south of Annecy. Its crystal clear waters make it a popular water sports destination, with activities including swimming, fishing, sailing, and more.
Lake Annecy is also the perfect place to laze around and top up your tan, with several beaches dotted along the lake's shoreline. One of the best beaches along Lake Annecy is in Saint Jorioz, with its white sandy beaches and lakeside restaurants. Château d'Annecy: The Château d'Annecy is an integral part of Annecy's history and one of its best museums. Construction of the castle began in the 12th century, with additions made until the 16th century. It served as home to the counts of Geneva during the 13th and 14th centuries. Château d'Annecy was no longer in use by the 17th century and was revived in the 1940s as an army barracks.
Since the 1950s, Château d'Annecy has been a historic monument and museum, which affords sweeping views of Annecy's picturesque old town. One of the best ways to see the city is from atop the 12th century Queen's Tower, which boasts 13-foot thick walls. The interior of the castle is full of regional and contemporary art and lavish furnishings.
La Volière de l'Impérial: If you're searching for a quick excursion the whole family will love, swing by La Volière de l'Impérial. An animal park and garden, La Volière de l'Impérial sits on the edge of Lake Annecy, with snow-capped mountains providing a beautiful backdrop. Within the 2.5-acre park, you'll find fallow deer, red deer, and mouflons roaming around freely. The park is also home to an aviary, which contains around 15 bird species, including peacocks, guinea fowl, and pheasants. You won't want to lug your bags around this forested park, so swing by an Annecy luggage storage service.

This was so cool!!!! Great service, extremely easy to use, and totally affordable! I didn't know where I'd leave my luggage while we explored San Fran, so I easily Googled luggage storage and found this company. At first it was a little odd dropping my bag off at a chocolate store, but the lady at the register was able to immediately pull up my reservation without any problems and then she put a lock on my suitcase and gave me a card to get it back with. She pushed the bag to the back of their storage room and I came back about 6 hours later to pick it up. Great service, I will definitely be using this again when I travel!
