About the station

Any traveler who has been lucky enough to explore hypermodern South Korea knows that there is much more to this fascinating nation than just the capital, Seoul. As one of Korea's biggest cities, Busan is a place with a rich history and vibrant culture all of its own. And thanks to excellent transportation links to the capital, including via Busan Station, there's really no reason not to come here and see what this place is all about.

Busan Station is one of the most important railway stations in the country, acting as the southern terminus of the Gyeongbu Line & the Gyeongbu high-speed railway, two of Korea's most important railway lines. Via KTX, Korea's high-speed train system, you can travel from Busan Station to Seoul in around two and a half hours.

Busan Station also has a metro station attached to it, which makes it the most important transportation hub in this substantial city. Located near the heart of the city in the Choryang-dong neighborhood, this modern station was built only a little over 20 years ago, so it's only just lost that new train station smell.

Busan Station is the gateway to the city for millions of travelers every year, so don't be caught by surprise to find the station very busy when you're there. Still, by dropping off your unneeded bags at the best luggage storage Busan has to offer, you can make your trip much easier on yourself.

Are there lockers at Busan Station?

Busan KTX station offers luggage storage lockers on the ground level, at both the North and South sides of the station. These luggage storage facilities offer coin-operated lockers where you can store luggage, though you'll need to make sure you have coins to use them. Plus, these lockers are often full during busy times. You're only allowed to store luggage in the storage lockers for up to three days, but there is a staffed luggage storage facility in the station that can hold bags for 30 days.

Do Korean train stations have luggage lockers?

Many of the major Korean train stations do offer luggage lockers or other luggage storage services. That includes Busan Station and Seoul Central Station. However, if you're looking for luggage lockers at subway stations such as Haeundae Station, Gwangan Station, Nampo Station, or Seomyeon Station, you may be out of luck.

Where does KTX stop in Busan?

Busan Station is the only KTX high-speed railway station in the region and is the end of the line. That makes the station a key part of the transportation infrastructure of the country and provides an important link between Busan and Seoul, as well as other destinations across the country.

Choryang traditional market

Located practically right outside Busan Station, this traditional market is more than just a tourist attraction. It's also a convenient location to grab anything you need while you head for the train, just like the locals do. In fact, it offers a great way to experience local culture without heading very far from the station at all.

This traditional market is held every day in a large covered hall, so you don't need to worry about the weather while you visit here. It's an excellent place to pick up traditional Korean food, and among the stalls selling produce and other ingredients, you'll also find some offering prepared foods that you can try for yourself. Airport travel from Busan Station

Busan Airport to Busan Station

Thanks to some really excellent public transportation infrastructure, it's easy to reach both the international terminal and the domestic terminal of Gimhae Airport from Busan Station.

Probably the simplest way is to take the Metro from Busan subway station to Seomyeon Station on Line 1. From there, you can transfer to Line 2 and take that to Sasang Station. Then, you can take light rail to the airport itself.

Honestly, it sounds more complicated than it is. Depending on the timing of your transfers, the whole journey will take around 40 minutes and only cost you a few dollars, so it's probably the best and certainly the cheapest way to get from Busan Airport to Busan Station.

On the other hand, if speed is of the essence, a taxi can whisk you from the station to the airport in around 15 minutes, depending on traffic. You can expect to spend around $20 for this, so although it's much more expensive than taking the subway, it's still fairly cheap for the convenience it offers.

Getting around Busan from Busan Station

Gamcheon Culture Village

Located outside central Busan itself, this intriguing tourist attraction is still worth a visit, especially since it's so easy to reach.

All you need to do is hop on the train from Busan to Toseong, a ride that takes around 20 minutes. Then, you can walk from Toseong to the village.

Gamcheon Culture Village may be close to the hustle and bustle of Busan, but it feels a very long way away. The beautifully painted houses, murals, shops, cafés, and hiking trails make this a lovely place to spend a few hours or even longer. The village is packed with fantastic photo opportunities along with wonderful restaurants and shops to explore, so it's a great way to enjoy village life without traveling far from the city.

Trick Eye Museum

This museum of optical illusions offers what may be the best photo opportunities in all of Busan. The museum features huge works of 3D art that you are invited to touch and take your photo with, and the different optical illusions in place will have you doubting your own eyes as you explore one fascinating room after another. If you want to capture some truly unique photos during your trip to Busan, this is the place to do it. Plus, this intriguing museum offers something for the whole family to enjoy.

From Busan Station, it's just a five-minute walk to Choryang Station. From there, you can take the train for just two stops to Jung-Ang, then walk to the Trick Eye Museum.

Trick Eye Museum luggage policy

There isn't room for large bags inside the interactive exhibits of this museum. Besides, you don't want your bags ruining your photos anyway. Instead, leave your things behind at our luggage storage locations so you can concentrate on getting unbelievable photos at this fun facility.
