Store your luggage around Puerto Princesa with Bounce

Located in the western Philippines, Puerto Princesa is an ultra-scenic outdoor hotspot that's just waiting to be explored. Its nickname, "A city within a forest," should immediately give you an idea of the scenic beauty you'll experience when you arrive via the Puerto Princesa Airport.

Puerto Princesa is a great spot from which to explore more of the island. Weekend trips to places like El Nido on the northern tip of the island or to Bataraza in the south are accessible due to its mid-island location.

Scuba diving, boating, swimming, and hiking are some of the most popular activities in Puerto Princesa. And with all the active things to do here, the last thing you want to worry about is luggage storage. Puerto Princesa is home to convenient luggage Bounce storage locations all around - basically, anywhere you need it. Storing your bags with us ensures you'll be able to tour the island unencumbered, even if you're waiting for a flight or a bus or have a late check-in at your hotel.

Luggage storage in Puerto Princesa

Airport storage lockers are less and less common these days, which, in most cases, is a good thing. Who wants to rely on an airport shuttle just to get back to pick up your bags? A better option is to store luggage within walking distance of Puerto Princesa's major attraction to avoid that kind of back and forth.

Bounce offers convenient and affordable luggage storage in Puerto Princesa and the Phillippines as a whole. You can drop your bags off with us for a few hours or several days, and we partner with nearby hotels, local shops, and other businesses to provide luggage storage exactly where you need it. Our user-friendly app lets you book everything in advance, so you know your spot is guaranteed. Add that to the BounceShield Protection and friendly service, and you can see why Bounce is the best luggage storage service around.

Top things to do in Puerto Princesa

As we mentioned, Puerto Princesa is the ideal vacation destination for outdoor lovers. The beautiful beaches, rivers, and forests are always a good time, but there are some great cultural attractions, like museums, as well as fantastic shopping and dining choices to keep you entertained. Here are some of the best things to do in Puerto Princesa:

Museums in Puerto Princesa

Palawan Museum

With a focus on Palawan's history, the Palawan Museum tells the story of the island through various artifacts and ritual pieces. Open since 1991, the collection here is growing by the day. Items are categorized into five main sections: history, anthropology, ethnology, archaeology, and biology. The site also has a library with rare books about Palawan and its place in the world.

A new addition to the offerings here is the Cuyonon section, which aims to preserve and protect this Palawan language. Cuyonon is spoken on the Palawan Coast, but since the late 1980s, the language has been on the decline due to large amounts of migration to the island. This is a great opportunity to learn about an intriguing piece of Palawan's culture and history.

This museum does not specifically offer any luggage storage, so it's best to drop your stuff off with Bounce before heading here. The museum is small and carrying big backpacks or suitcases with you isn't a good idea.

Palawan Special Battalion WW-II Memorial Museum

A tribute to a beloved local hero, Dr. Higinio Mendoza, The Palawan Special Battalion WW-II Memorial Museum exhibits WW-II-specific artifacts, such as the typewriter and stenography machine used by General Douglas MacArthur, uniforms, vehicles, guns, and old currency. There are also miniature war planes and ships to see.

Dr. Mendoza was part of a 1,000-man guerrilla group fighting to save the city and entire province from Japanese occupation. He selflessly cleared the city and was the last man standing when the troops arrived. He was ultimately captured and executed, but he is a legend among locals, and the museum is extremely detailed in telling his story. Leave your bags behind with Bounce so that you can truly immerse yourself in this experience.

Palawan Heritage Center

Found in the back section of the legislative building on Fernandez Street, the Palawan Heritage Center is a museum that offers a real interactive view of the Palawan people. From life-size recreation of tribal life to ancient artifacts to holograms and touch-screen videos, this is a great stop on a Puerto Princesa itinerary, especially if the weather isn't good enough to go to the beach.

It's been open since 2012, and it's a fabulous way to get to grips with the lengthy history of the region while still being fun for the whole family. But what isn't fun is dragging your bags around with you. The museum discourages large backpacks and bags, but luckily, Bounce has you covered with our ample luggage storage facilities nearby.

Shopping in Puerto Princesa

Mercado de San Miguel

Picture a two-story strip mall, and you'll start to get the idea of what Mercado de San Miguel is all about. It may sound like a bustling open-air market, but it's not. Instead, it has dozens of local shops selling everything from groceries to home goods to souvenirs. The marketplace is relatively close to the airport and is on the way into the main part of Puerto Princesa, so if you need something, it's best to stop in on your way from the airport unless you're taking the airport shuttle, that is.

NCCC Mall Palawan

The NCCC Mall in Puerto Princesa is more like the typical mall you might think of. There are tons of stores, and some of the best souvenirs you can purchase are edible ones. Palawan is known for nuts, including cashews, honey, banana chips, and turmeric and ginger tea. There are places to grab a bite or a coffee (Dunkin' Donuts), as well as clothing and jewelry stores. Plus, the mall often holds events for holidays and to raise money for charities, so there's always something going on here, it seems.

Robinsons Place Palawan

Bigger isn't always better, but Robinsons Place Palawan is easily the best one-stop-shop for all your needs in Puerto Princesa. It's actually the largest mall in the Palawan province and is relatively modern since it opened as recently as 2012. It's two stories and offers a food court, outdoor restaurants, clothing stores, a supermarket, and even four movie theaters.

Whether you're going to any of these malls to pick up a few items, dine at a restaurant, or shop til you drop, you won't want to carry suitcases as well as shopping bags. Let Bounce take care of the bags for a few hours while you enjoy some retail therapy. Additionally, most of these locations are near major attractions like the Butterfly Garden, Crocodile Farm, and Honda Bay Beach, so why not combine them and leave your bags for the entire day?

Restaurants in Puerto Princesa

Even if you're staying at a luxury hotel like the Palmas Island Resort of the Princesa Garden Island Resort and Spa, you'll want to leave to eat at least a few times during your trip. Store luggage first in your hotel room or with Bounce, and you'll be able to enjoy delicious dishes, a welcoming atmosphere, and breathtaking views. These are our top Puerto Princesa restaurants:

Badjao Seafront Restaurant

Featuring fresh fish served daily, colorful salads, and nourishing soups, the food is just one of the stars of this eatery. The indoor dining room has a high ceiling, views out to the water, and various wooden walkways through the trees. When you enter the restaurant, you'll have the feeling of being in a treehouse, although this one is very comfortable and serves tasty food.

Captain Ribs

Although you don't usually come to the Philippines for ribs and fries, if you've been on Palawan a while, it can be nice to mix things up. Captain Ribs does exactly what the name says and offers tasty fall-off-the-bone ribs and sides like fries and mashed potatoes. The setting is unlike a typical US rib joint, set among the trees and with a cozy, albeit somewhat dark, interior. If possible, try to get a table on their lovely outdoor patio. It has nice groupings of seats, and the tables aren't too close together if you prefer a little privacy.

Ver de Puerto Princesa

This charming restaurant has a less rural feeling than the others, but it has some of the best food you can find in the area. Menu highlights include the all-day breakfast, scrumptious salads and bowls, and smoothies. There's no better place in Puerto Princesa to get fresh food than this.

Many of the larger restaurants here have ample space for guests, but that doesn't mean they want you clogging up the walkways with your bags. Instead, opt for a luggage storage service like Bounce to make sure your things aren't in anyone's way.

Conclusion

Puerto Princesa is the perfect gateway to Palawan and its many intriguing beaches, villages, and attractions. If you plan to make the most of your trip to the Philippines, we have useful guides and luggage storage locations in cities like Baguio, Manila, and Cebu City. Don't leave without exploring as much as you can.
