About Universal Studios Singapore

The Universal Studios theme park and resort began as a tour of Universal Pictures’ large studio lots. People would come by the thousands to see iconic film sets and props in person. Over time, Universal began to expand this venture; they added new exhibits, live performances, and amusement park rides to the experience. Thus the first Universal Studios theme park opened to the public on July 15, 1964 in Hollywood, California. Before long, more and more Universals Studios theme parks opened around the world.

One such Universal Studios theme park opened on Sentosa Island, Singapore. Universal Studios Singapore opened in the early 2010s; to be specific, this park held a soft opening from March 18, 2010 to October 26th of that same year. Universal Studios Singapore officially opened on May 28, 2011. A grand opening gala was held the night before. Celebrities like Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Paula Abdul, and Zhao Wei attended the gala alongside more than 1,600 other attendees. Universal Studios Singapore is still being upgraded and expanded today. Two new areas - Minion Park and Super Nintendo World - are slated to open sometime during the 2020s.

Things to do at Universal Studios Singapore

Each and every Universal Studios theme park is unique in its own right. The original Hollywood park, for example, has its legendary studio lots and its ever-popular Wizarding World attraction. Conversely, the Singapore park has 18 original attractions that were specifically built for this park. Universal Studios Singapore is divided into several zones: Ancient Egypt, Far Far Away, Hollywood, The Lost World, Madagascar, and New York. The Ancient Egypt, Hollywood, and New York areas feature attractions and replicas of real-world landmarks. The Far Far Away area is based on Dreamworks’ Shrek films, while the Lost World is an homage to the Jurassic Park series. The Madagascar area is slated to be replaced by Minion Park and Super Nintendo World soon. Bounce highly recommends checking out the following 10 points of interest at Universal Studios Singapore.

Luggage Storage Near the Battlestar Galactica Roller Coaster

Battlestar Galactica has cemented its place in history as one of the best Sci-Fi shows to ever grace the silver screen. Though the original series ended in 2009, Battlestar Galactica still has a large, loyal, and dedicated international fanbase. Fans of the series should definitely check out this roller coaster at Universal Studios Singapore. To be more accurate, this Battlestar Galactica-themed attraction is a set of dueling roller coasters. The “Human” coaster is a riveting ride with tons of g-force. The “Cylon” coaster is an inverted ride with corkscrews and vertical loops. Guests should store their things with Bounce way before takeoff.

Luggage Storage Near the Revenge of the Mummy Ride

Back in the day, Universal Pictures made a name for itself by bringing classic monsters to the big screen. Universal Pictures produced films about creatures like Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and the Wolfman. Karl Freund’s 1932 film The Mummy was a huge hit among filmgoers. It was so successful that several sequels and remakes were produced throughout the last century. Freund’s film also inspired Universal Studios’ Revenge of the Mummy ride. This indoor roller coaster also takes cues from Stephen Sommers’ The Mummy films - specifically, the scarab beetles and the soldier mummies that chase riders. Bounce away your baggage, then check out this high-speed horror show.

Luggage Storage Near the Waterworld Attraction

Kevin Reynolds 1995 films Waterworld is often regarded as one of the most expensive films ever made; with a star-studded cast, pricey practical effects, and an extremely troubled production, Waterworld needed to be a huge hit just to recoup its losses. Unfortunately, Waterworld only made about $264 million off of a $175 million budget. Fortunately, Waterworld inspired the Live Sea War Spectacular attraction at Universal Studios Singapore. Daring stunts and dazzling effects combine to make this Waterworld attraction a must-see.
