About Waterfront Station

As a relatively new city, only founded in 1862, Vancouver isn't blessed with many grand historic buildings. After all, for much of the city's early existence, it was a rough-and-tumble logging town rather than the bustling metropolis it is today.

Still, Waterfront Station has been a crucial part of Vancouver's transportation infrastructure since it was opened in 1914. And to this day, it remains key to getting around this ever-growing city.

Thanks to its easy connection with Vancouver International Airport and the city's cruise ship terminal, Waterfront Station is the gateway to downtown Vancouver and beyond for millions of visitors every year. And if you can't wait to explore the biggest city in British Columbia, you'll be glad to know there are several luggage storage options nearby Waterfront Station that you can use to make your trip easier.

What to do with your luggage after a cruise in Vancouver?

Vancouver is a major cruise ship terminal, especially for cruises to Alaska. Therefore, lots of people find themselves in the city after their cruise has finished, wondering what to do with their bags.

That's where Bounce comes in. By partnering with local businesses throughout the downtown area, Bounce provides a great service for baggage storage wherever you are. You can easily find convenient storage near Waterfront Station and book online, and we offer free cancellation if your plans change. You can leave any size of bags for as long as you like, from a few hours to days at a time.

Is there luggage storage at Canada Place Vancouver?

Canada Place is the cruise ship terminal for the city of Vancouver, and it is attached to Waterfront Station. Because many people disembark from their cruises here, there is luggage storage available at the Ground Transportation Desk just after you clear customs.

However, this luggage storage isn't necessarily the most convenient for exploring the city. Bounce helps you find luggage storage options across Vancouver so you can visit the main attractions in the city and take advantage of our luggage storage service wherever you end up.

How long can you store luggage near Waterfront Station in Vancouver?

Unlike most luggage storage options, Bounce doesn't put a limit on how long you can store your things. Our convenient locations can store your bags for as long as you need, making it a great option for locals and tourists alike to get rid of their heavy bags with no size limit at an affordable cost.

How do I find luggage storage in Vancouver?

The easiest way to find the best luggage storage Waterfront Station provides is to download the Bounce app or use our website to find one of our luggage storage locations. You can sort by location and use the geolocation feature to find a storage location near you.

Things to do near Waterfront Station

Gastown

Vancouver may not be known for its rich history, but the neighborhood of Gastown still feels like taking a trip back in time.

This is where the city of Vancouver was founded, and it's where you'll find most of the city's remaining century-old buildings. Although it's a fairly small part of the modern city, Gastown's old brick buildings and cobblestone streets offer possibly the most charming atmosphere in the city. And thanks to a recent regeneration project, this once-neglected area is now home to some of the city's best restaurants, bars, and clubs.

Best of all, Waterfront Station sits right at the edge of Gastown. This is definitely a place to explore on foot, so make sure to take the short walk from the station along the charming streets of this quaint area.

Vancouver Lookout

In this famously beautiful city, you'll have plenty of options when it comes to enjoying a great view. Still, the city's original observation deck, although far from the tallest building in modern Vancouver, is hard to beat. And you'll see it the moment you step out the front doors of the station.

Across the street from Waterfront Station, the observation deck features a glass elevator and 360° views over the city, the mountains, and the ocean. It's a perfect way to get better acquainted with the surroundings as soon as you arrive.

Airport travel from Waterfront Station

Vancouver International Airport to Waterfront Station

As the main transportation hub for downtown Vancouver, Waterfront Station provides a link to the city's airport that could hardly be easier.

Back when Vancouver was expanding its public transportation infrastructure, it was decided that this mountainous coastal city was too beautiful for an underground subway. Instead, Vancouver has the SkyTrain, a driverless elevated railway that connects the airport to the center of the city and the surrounding towns.

Thanks to this train, you can reach Waterfront Station from Vancouver Airport in less than 30 minutes. The journey from the airport to Waterfront Station costs $9.55. However, going the other way is cheaper, since you don't have to pay the additional five-dollar added airport charge. Why? No idea. That's just the way it is.

Bus

If you have a fear of elevated railways or you arrive at a time when the SkyTrain isn't running, it may be possible to take a bus from the airport to Waterfront Station. Tickets cost around six dollars, and the journey takes around half an hour without traffic. But unless you're reaching the city in the early hours of the morning, there probably will be traffic.

Taxi

Finally, if all else fails, you can take a taxi from Vancouver International Airport to Waterfront Station. Without traffic, this can take as little as 20 minutes, but you can expect to pay anywhere from C$30 to C$45.

Getting around Vancouver from Waterfront Station

Stanley Park

This little slice of almost unspoiled coastal rainforest is the most popular attraction in Vancouver, and deservedly so. Occupying 1000 acres of what would otherwise be some of the world's most expensive real estate, this park preserves the ancient forest of British Columbia right next to downtown. Surrounded by water, Stanley Park is famous for its seawall, a joint-use walking and bike path that runs along the coastline, offering incredible views of the North Shore mountains and downtown Vancouver itself. The park is also home to wildlife including turtles, bald eagles, great blue herons, and extremely tame raccoons that will eat right out of your hand if you let them.

Because it is located right next to downtown, Stanley Park is easy to reach from Waterfront Station. City bus 19 stops at the junction of Granville and Pender streets, right in front of Waterfront Station, and will drop you off in the center of the park next to Vancouver Aquarium.

Commercial Drive

In a city as dynamic as Vancouver, nothing seems to stay the same for long. However, one thing that never seems to change much is Commercial Drive.

Once the heart of the city's Italian district, the Drive, as it's known to locals, has been an artistic and countercultural hub of the city for decades. And while the rest of Vancouver rapidly gentrifies, Commercial Drive remains its authentic and sometimes grungy self.

This is a fantastic place to try some of the city's trendiest bars and most exciting restaurants, and also a wonderful place for live music and other cultural events. It's also perfect for getting a glimpse of the real life of Vancouver residents, away from the more glitzy parts of downtown.

You can reach Commercial Drive SkyTrain station from Waterfront in around 15 minutes on the Expo line. Then, you can spend hours browsing vintage stores and record shops or trying the bars and restaurants in this extremely walkable neighborhood.

Science World

Vancouver's interactive science museum is a fantastic place to learn more about the world around us. It's also one of the top attractions in the city for traveling families.

The themed zones of Science World will help both you and your children learn more about the world around you, from natural history to the mysteries of outer space. There's also an IMAX Theater where you can catch incredible movies and travel the cosmos without leaving the city.

Main Street - Science World Skytrain station is located just outside this iconic attraction. A journey of only 10 minutes on the Expo line will bring you to this fascinating place.

Science World bag policy

Large bags and suitcases are not allowed inside the exhibit halls. Also, there is no stroller parking at Science World, so if you have bulky bags or stroller to store, the best course of action is to take advantage of Bounce's luggage storage service so you can leave your things behind hassle-free.
