View the impressive artworks at Kadriorg Art Museum which is located inside of a Baroque palace. The building was constructed to be a summer residence for Tsar Peter the Great of Russia and is just as impressive as the artwork that it holds. Visit Kohtuotsa Viewing Platform for panoramic views of the city. When it comes to capturing the perfect shot of Tallinn, this lookout point is a great spot to go. It’s a beautiful sight overlooking the red rooftops that make up the Old Town, and sometimes events are put on here. There’s also a cafe, open seasonally.

Learn about the German and Soviet rule of Estonia at the Vabama Museum of Occupations and Freedom. This is Estonia’s largest non-profit museum and has a goal of educating customers on the recent fights for freedom and justice the Estonian people have gone through.

Although they have a fantastic selection, Solaris Shopping Centre is great for more than just retail therapy. Inside, you’ll find lots of shops, a grocery store, and an Estonian design centre that takes up the entire first floor. You’ll also find many eateries and the Artis alternative film theater on site.

Found in the historic Old Town, this restaurant offers one of the best dining experiences for history enthusiasts. With a medieval setting both inside and out, being surrounded by some gorgeous preserved architecture, you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported back in time when you eat here. Wait staff, live entertainment, and even the food are all set to the time period.

Uulits is a gourmet street food restaurant that started out as a simple stand but has since expanded into its own establishment, with several locations around the city. They serve great burgers and everything, from bun to sauce, is homemade. They also use local ingredients in their dishes.

Lee is a fine dining establishment in the Old Town of Tallinn offering delicious meals made with ingredients from around the area. The menu changes very often so there’s always a new flavor to sample. Try the Lee Experience; you’ll be treated to a fantastic six-course meal. It’s great for sharing so bring some friends.

Tallinn has many public transport options to help you get around the city. While you’ll want to be on foot to experience the cobblestone streets of Old Town, you can take your pick of the following if you’re heading to other areas:

Most buses leave from the Viru Centre terminal and can be used along with the trams and trolleybuses to navigate the city. You can buy a ticket that’s valid for an hour for just €1.50.

The tram is mostly used to get around the downtown area of Tallinn. They use the same ticketing system as the buses, so you can pay for one fare and easily transfer from one mode of transportation to the next.

The trolleybus works similarly to the buses and trams in Tallinn. Tickets cost the same and can be used between the three modes of transportation.

Trains can be used to travel to other cities around Estonia. If you want to take a day trip to somewhere like Tartu, you can get there in about two hours, and tickets cost around €9.95.
