Known locally as Khaosan Road, this short street has more energy, fun, and culture packed into one small area than most cities have. Constructed in 1892, the name Khao San means milled rice, and the street was known for its major rice marketing in the past. However, it is now one of the most popular streets in Bangkok. Nicknamed the backpacker ghetto, the street has very inexpensive hotels as well as cheap food and lots of alcohol.
The shops that line Khao San Road sell all sorts of goodies like books, DVDs, CDs, food, clothes, and handcrafted items. The street vendors make up most of the retail sales on Khao San Road, and you can find just about anything you want there. After dark, you will find the other side of tourism with music, bars, and exotic snacks.
Nowadays, the street has morphed into several streets with bright lights and loud music at all hours of the day and night, where you can get a drink, meal, and massage for less than 20 bucks. And pop into one of the shops or stalls for a tattoo while you are there. Whatever you do, have fun and be alert for those annoying vendors selling fake IDs.
Fun Fact: One of the hotels was used in the movie “The Island” starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
All places have special spots they are known for, and Khao San Road is the spot to go if you are in the Phra Nakhon District in Bangkok. If you want good and inexpensive dining, shopping, and partying, you can find all that and more on Khao San Road.

Just 10 minutes from Khao San Road on the second floor of the Siriraj Hospital on Wang Lang Road, there is a fascinating museum of parasites that you will love. Convenient to the Met, which does not allow luggage at coat check. Very easy check in and check out process, with lovely people at the front!
This was so cool!!!! Great service, extremely easy to use, and totally affordable! I didn't know where I'd leave my luggage while we explored San Fran, so I easily Googled luggage storage and found this company. At first it was a little odd dropping my bag off at a chocolate store, but the lady at the register was able to immediately pull up my reservation without any problems and then she put a lock on my suitcase and gave me a card to get it back with. She pushed the bag to the back of their storage room and I came back about 6 hours later to pick it up. Great service, I will definitely be using this again when I travel!
Can’t believe I haven’t used this service until now. So easy & convenient. I 100% recommend.
