About Berlin Zoo

Berlin Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Germany. Situated in the Tiergarten, the zoo was first opened in 1844 and is spread over 85 acres of land. Over the years, it has built its collection of animals and today is home to over 20,000! These animals are made up of 1,380 different species and will give you a diverse and informative experience. The zoo is well known for its enclosures, which have been designed to mimic the real life habitats of each animal. It has a particular focus on Madagascar and supporting rare species in this country.

People travel from all over the world to visit the well-known zoo and two of its beloved animals, Knut and Bao Bao. Knut is a polar bear and Bao Bao a panda, both of which have aided the zoo’s public image and continue to draw crowds.
