Learn about Korean history at Culture Station Seoul 284, a cultural space that hosts rotating exhibits highlighting facets of Korean culture and history. This cultural space was once used as a train station and is hosted in a beautifully restored old building which is a landmark in its own right, boasting ornate details inside and out. With new artifacts coming and going, the space is ever changing. Right next to Seoul Station, you can get here in minutes by foot.

Seoullo 7017

Catch the sunset over Seoul or simply enjoy the city views as you wander along the Seoullo 7017. This elevated pedestrian walkway is lined with plants and, built on a former highway overpass, offers beautiful sights over Seoul. On weekends, the walkway holds markets for shopping. Whether you come to browse the markets or just want to take in the scenery, it’s worth a visit. The walkway is located very close to Seoul Station. Begin your walk as soon as your train arrives.

Airport travel from Seoul Station

Incheon International Airport to Seoul Station

Incheon Airport is Seoul’s biggest and main air gateway. Serving more than 80 local and international airlines, chances are that you’ll end up here when visiting the city. Inside, you’ll find plenty of fantastic restaurants and a duty free shopping mall as well. Getting to Seoul Station is easy; just take the express Airport Railway 4001 from Incheon Airport Terminal 1. It’s a non-stop ride to the Seoul Station subway stop, leaving you right in the heart of the city. The price for a ticket on the express train is about 9,500 won for adults. Overall, it’ll take you close to an hour to get from the airport to the train station.

Gimpo International Airport

Serving as the city’s main airport up until 2001, Gimpo is a well developed airport and is used by many passengers today. Presently, this airport services most of the domestic flights for South Korea. Gimpo airport is fairly close to the city center, and you can use the same express Airport Railway 4001 as you would for traveling from Incheon Airport. Leaving Gimpo International Airport, you’ll have to ride five stops to reach the Seoul Station subway stop. This will take you close to half an hour, and the train fare from Gimpo Airport is about 2,900 won.

Getting around Seoul from Seoul Station

After you arrive in the city and take the time to enjoy Seoul Station, you’ll probably feel ready to get out and start discovering everything else that the city has to offer. Leaving from Seoul train station is ideal because you’ll have access to the Seoul metro and buses, and services like the Gyeongui line, which can bring you basically anywhere that you want to go. Below are some cool activities and attractions we think you’ll love.

Sungnyemun Gate

This incredible building is a popular local landmark and was constructed in the 1300s. Aside from being a historical site due to its age, the structure also serves as a gate to the city and is one of the Eight Gates of the Fortress Wall of Seoul. If you visit in the morning, you can watch a changing of the guards ceremony which happens there every day, or simply stop by to admire the architecture. 

Getting here is simple and will only take 5 minutes. Start at Seoul Station platform 5 and catch the 9401 bus towards Gumi-dong Garage. The bus will take you right to Sungnyemun Gate and tickets cost 1,500 won. Other buses, like the 261, 5500-2, 8100, or 9000, will also get you there.

Namdaemun Market

Shop for souvenirs, snacks, and just about anything else you can think of at the Namdaemun Market, the largest market in Seoul. This enormous market has vendors selling everything from knick-knacks to food items and clothing. Whether you’re looking for something to take home with you or just want to browse, it’s a fascinating place to explore. It’ll take under 10 minutes to get here using the Seoul metro. Starting at Seoul Station subway stop, take the 409 line to Hoehyeon and then walk for 3 minutes to reach the market. It costs 1,400 won to get into the metro.

Myeongdong NANTA Theater

Located within the UNESCO building, this theatre offers entertaining performances for all ages. From comedy to acrobatics, the shows here are always entertaining and usually family-friendly. Since the performances are nonverbal, you don’t need to speak Korean to enjoy the experience. Remember to stash your large bags with a nearby Bounce partner before the show, as you won’t be able to take them inside. 

You can get here in a bit over 10 minutes using public transit. Make your way to Seoul Station platform 5 and catch the 8100 bus. Get off at the Myeong-dong Entrance, and you’ll find the theatre just minutes away on foot. The bus fare should be around 1,500 won, and other bus routes like the 4108, 9003, M4108 and M5107 also pass by this stop.
