Bus route 16 will take you from the airport to Teatro Piccinni in the heart of the city. From there, you can take bus route A to bring you to the port. This journey will take around an hour, depending on timing.

There is also a shuttle bus operated by Tempesta Autoservizi which can get you from the airport to the center of the city in around 30 minutes, but you'll still need to take the bus from there.

Getting around Bari from Bari Port

Museum of Earth Sciences

Like most Italian cities, Bari is packed full of historic and artistic attractions. But if you want something different, the Museum of Earth Sciences is well worth a visit, especially if you're traveling with kids. Still, even if you're not, this geological museum is fascinating, and you're bound to learn something no matter how old you are.

Housing the extensive collection of the local university, this museum is open to the public and is notable for its fossil and dinosaur collections along with displays of rare minerals and other geological curiosities.

You can get here from Bari Port by taking bus route 50 from Bari Port to Bari Centrale train station. Then, take bus number 21 to the museum itself. Depending on the timing of transfers, the journey will take around 40 minutes.

Polignano a Mare

One of the absolute highlights of any trip to this region of Italy, the gorgeous seaside town of Polignano a Mare lies just outside Bari, and if you have the time for an excursion, it's well worth making the effort to get here. With its incredible cliffs, beaches, restaurants, and laid-back coastal atmosphere, Polignano will make you feel like you're much further away from the city than you really are.

To get from the port to this town, take bus route 52 from Bari Central train station. Then, you can take the train to Polignano for a total journey time of a little over one hour. The train only costs around six euros, with the bus costing just a couple of euros more, so it's a very affordable way to see a beautiful place.
