About Hvar
Hvar is a 42-mile-long island in the Adriatic Sea off the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. With 11,000 permanent residents, it’s Croatia's 4th most populated island and a top tourist destination. Bus transportation (Cazmatrans bus company)
Cazmatrans bus company connects the towns of Hvar, Stari Grad and Jelsa with one another and with the ferry terminal. The cost is from €3.50 to €6 per trip. Once inside the towns, walking is the best way to get around.
Ferry
The island itself can be reached by ferry from Split to Stari Grad. The ferry takes cars, so it's possible to rent a vehicle on the mainland before taking the boat over. Depending on the season and operator, a ferry from Split to Hvar costs from €6 to €20.00.
Car rental
Renting a car is one of the most convenient ways to navigate the island of Hvar and to visit the nearby islands. For approximately €35.00 for the whole day, you can explore the island on your own time and schedule.
