Ibiza is the third largest of the Balearic Islands and is a popular destination for Mediterranean cruises. Well over 200,000 cruise ship passengers dock in Ibiza each year, and the island has excursions available for all types of travelers. Families and beachgoers have dozens of beaches for a relaxing vacation, while night owls can party till the crack of dawn at pulsating nightclubs.
There’s a steady flow of cruise ships, ferries, and private yachts each day, and it’s astonishing to watch the daily traffic at the port. Thousands of vessels dock in the nearby marina for daily voyages to Ibiza’s neighboring Balearic Islands.
Prestigious cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC, and Seabourn have itineraries featuring Ibiza. Outside of large cruise ships, Ibiza Port welcomes many passenger ferries cruising from the Spanish mainland. Thanks to steady improvements in the port’s infrastructure, the island’s average of daily visitors has skyrocketed in recent years.
Port d’Eivissa and Botafoc Dock are the two areas where passengers may disembark depending on the type of vessel transporting them to the island. The historic Dalt Vila (Old Town) takes about a 20-minute walk to reach from the port, but transit options are available for those with mobility impairments. For the scenic route to Old Town, hop on a City Boat for a short cruise.

Ibiza Cathedral: Before Ibiza was a nightlife haven, its Old Town was a spiritual oasis centered around its Gothic cathedral. Although earlier civilizations worshipped at the site, the present-day church arose during the 14th century. After the 1235 conquest of Eivissa, the first order of business was to mold the parish from the mosque nestled on the hilltop.
Numerous alterations the following centuries adorned the church with a bell tower, several chapels, and Gothic panels. The parish gained cathedral status by the 18th century and astonishes visitors today with its beautiful sculptures and works of art.
While visiting the cathedral, take the time to roam the streets within the walls of Dalt Vila. With its dramatic seascapes overlooking the Mediterranean, the fortified district provides the most stunning views anywhere on the island.
Ses Salines Natural Park: For nature lovers, Ses Salines Natural Park is the place to be when stepping foot on Ibiza. Showcasing some of the island’s most impressive coastal scenery, the park serenades bird watchers and beachgoers. The protected coastline beckons swimmers with its turquoise waters, while the pink-tinted salt pans host flocks of flamingos.
Many bird species migrate to the wetlands and scatter their nests across the ecological paradise. Wildlife photographers can spot herons, falcons, ospreys, and hundreds of flamingos nesting throughout the park. The diverse ecosystem also houses more than 200 marine animals living along its shores.
Find the Sal Rossa watchtower to learn how Ibiza residents defended their harvested salt against dastardly pirates centuries ago. The tower’s location reveals a glimpse into the modest lifestyle for local fishermen and shows off the park’s natural beauty.
Puig des Molins: Ibiza is rich with history, and Puig des Molins is one of the earliest traces of humans residing on the island. The Phoenician necropolis originated during the 7th century BC and is one of Europe’s most elaborate archaeological sites.
The fertile landscape nourished the communities residing here with its plentiful harvests of olives, figs, and other delectable crops. A small archaeological museum presents intriguing artifacts found from the different civilizations that thrived off the land.
To delve further into Ibiza’s history, book a guided tour to explore the underground tombs. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about the site and will show you how Ibiza became a strategic colony during the Punic era.

This was so cool!!!! Great service, extremely easy to use, and totally affordable! I didn't know where I'd leave my luggage while we explored San Fran, so I easily Googled luggage storage and found this company. At first it was a little odd dropping my bag off at a chocolate store, but the lady at the register was able to immediately pull up my reservation without any problems and then she put a lock on my suitcase and gave me a card to get it back with. She pushed the bag to the back of their storage room and I came back about 6 hours later to pick it up. Great service, I will definitely be using this again when I travel!
