About Ibiza

Ibiza is a city located on the island of Ibiza. One of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza is known for its pristine beaches, delicious cuisine, and vibrant nightlife. Whether you're looking to spend your holiday lounging around on the beach or plan on partying until the early hours of the morning, you'll find something for everyone on this Spanish island paradise.

The island of Ibiza has been continuously inhabited for over 2,500 years when Phoenician settlers established a port on the island. Since then, the island has come under the control of many civilizations, including the Romans, Moors, and Byzantines. Ibiza first came under the control of Spain during the 12th century when it was conquered by King James I. Ibiza was later under Spanish rule until the 1970s, when it was granted autonomy along with the rest of the Balearic Islands.

Also known as Ibiza Town, this pretty locale is the perfect place for a holiday with a breathtaking landscape and exciting culture which visitors are sure to love. Did you know Ibiza was a popular hideout for pirates for hundreds of years? This only adds to the fun of Ibiza.

In 1999, Ibiza was declared a Unesco World Heritage site and it’s easy to see why. With interesting monuments, a fascinating waterfront area and its share of ancient buildings, this popular destination has much to boast about.

Get ready to explore this wondrous locale and be sure to do so without your bags in tow. Store your luggage safely with us by booking on the Bounce app. If your plans change from a museum tour to lying on the beach, cancel your reservation before your booking time and receive a full refund. We pride ourselves on flexibility and availability, and we’re there for you when you need us.

Activities and attractions in Ibiza

Platja d'en Bossa

Holidaymakers visiting Ibiza to soak up some of the island's famous nightlife will want to head to Platja d'en Bossa. Platja d'en Bossa is the longest beach in Ibiza and features trendy beach bars, resorts, and the island's superclubs. Many of the world's most famous clubs are along Platja d'en Bossa, including Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza. Spend the day sipping on cocktails and splashing around in Ibiza's crystal clear waters, before catching a classic DJ set at one of the superclubs.

Puerto de Ibiza

The Port of Ibiza is the ideal location for lovebirds looking for a romantic stroll and a candlelit dinner. Walk along the marina and spot some of the impressive ships moored in the harbor. Afterward, head to one of the many eateries overlooking the bay, including Calma Restaurante, Restaurante Trattoria del Mar, and Roto.

Just behind Puerto de Ibiza is Dalt Vila, in case you feel like exploring the Old Town's winding streets after dinner. There are also a few bars along the harbor if you fancy a nightcap with your loved one.

Puig des Molins Museum

The Puig de Molins Museum and Necropolis contains many of Ibiza's incredible historic artifacts. This museum and archeological site features one of the biggest necropolises in the world. It’s thought that there are over 3,000 tombs located here, though only a few hundred are visible.

The site dates back over 2,500 years and boasts dozens of fascinating sculptures, pieces of pottery, and more. One of the most amazing relics on display is a bust of the Carthaginian goddess Tanit, which dates back to around the 4th century.

Puig des Molins Museum bag policy

Umbrellas, backpacks and suitcases are prohibited inside the museum, and guests are asked to arrive without them or to store them in the luggage lockers provided on-site. Remember during high season you may find the lockers full. Booking with us ahead of your visit assures you a place to store luggage of any size. We charge a fixed price to stow your stuff, no matter how big or small your bags are and we always have availability.

Ibiza Cathedral

Ibiza Cathedral, also known as the Catedral de Santa Maria de la Neu de Vila d’Eivissa, is one of the island's most impressive buildings. Sat atop a hill in the center of Ibiza Town, Ibiza Cathedral dates back to the 14th century. It features classic Spanish architecture with Gothic and Baroque influences.

Once you step inside the cathedral you'll be treated to some incredible religious artwork, including two pieces by Francesc Cornes, which date back to the 14th century. Due to the cathedral’s position high above the city, you'll have stunning panoramas of the sea and the city's old town.

Ibiza Cathedral bag policy

As Ibiza Cathedral is perched atop a steep hill, you’ll want to drop your heavy bags off at an Ibiza luggage storage service before paying a visit. There’s no clear policy stating that bags aren’t allowed inside, but carrying around your belongings for the entire day will definitely get tiring. Store your luggage safely with us so you can take in the city’s rich cultural heritage without the burden of bags.

Museu d'art Contemporani d'Eivissa

Learn about local culture at the Museu d'art Contemporani d'Eivissa. You'll find tons of local modern art at this museum, with works by Frank El Punto, Eduard Micus, and Rafael Tur Costa. The museum is a favorite among many because it promotes international artworks from all over the world, although it also has a distinct focus on the works of the island’s young artist community.

Museu d'art Contemporani d'Eivissa bag policy

Visitors at the museum are asked to store bags and any other unneeded belongings in their baggage storage lockers. To avoid a lack of space for your things, drop off your bags with one of our store partners' left luggage facilities. All of the local shops and hotels that we work with are vetted beforehand to make sure that your items are as safe as can be.

Dalt Vila

Step back in time at Dalt Vila. Ibiza's Old Town boasts cobbled streets, quaint shops, and beautiful panoramas of the island from the district's ancient defensive walls. This fortified part of the city dates back to the Renaissance and is a wonderful spot to just take off and explore on foot. Aside from boutiques and sidewalk cafes, you’ll also find military artifacts, cannons and a 13th-century castle.

Casino de Ibiza

Try your luck at the Casino de Ibiza. Located along the city's harbor, this casino is ideal for a unique night out in Ibiza. The Ibiza Casino has all of the classic games, from slot machines to card games and a bar on site. Whether you want to see if you can win big or just enjoy the atmosphere with a drink in hand, a visit to this casino guarantees a good night.

Museo Puget

Discover local history at the Museo Puget. This lavish 15th-century mansion turned museum was once the home of prominent local artists Narcis Puget Vinas and Narcis Puget Riquer, his son. Today this art gallery in Ibiza offers a small collection of their works, including photographs, paintings, landscape artwork and watercolors. Come check it out if you have a free afternoon during your trip.

Museo Puget bag policy

Explore Ibiza freely by stowing your things at one of our convenient locations. They’ll be safely waiting for you in the storage space when you’re ready to pick them up.

Although the stalls mostly sell food and flowers, you might come across small knick-knacks that would make fantastic gifts for loved ones.

Las Dalias Hippy Market

The Las Dalias Hippy Market, or simply the Las Dalias de Ibiza, is a flea market that’s been around for nearly 40 years now. Come here to shop for all sorts of items, from clothes and jewelry to shoes and other unique treasures. There’s often live music and performances happening as well.

Passeig de Vara de Rey

At Passeig de Vara de Rey, you’ll find a historic city square that’s been transformed to become a shopping area selling well-known European brands. Top restaurants in Ibiza

Beachouse Ibiza

Beachouse used to be a simple late-night hangout spot for young locals, although today it’s a waterfront restaurant with a fantastic menu. They focus on using local produce that’s environmentally sustainable as well. Guests who eat here will get more than just a meal but an experience, with events like yoga and breakfast, full moon dinners on the beach, and Boho nights with cocktails, DJs, and dancing under the stars. On their lunch and dinner menu, you’ll find dishes like charcoal-grilled seasonal seafood, grilled corn tacos and creamy lobster rice.

Nagai

Nagai is situated in a former home that’s about 300 years old. It’s not your traditional sushi restaurant, offering a welcoming bohemian-styled atmosphere and friendly staff. They have a nice walled terrace where you can dine if the weather is pleasant and plenty of interior seating. On the menu, you’ll choose from dishes like soup, sashimi, rice dishes, hot Japanese tapas, noodles, hosomaki and tempura.

La Paloma

La Paloma is a family-run restaurant that’s become a favorite for many throughout its 25 years of business. They run a charming terrace cafe during the day serving houmous, falafel salad and grilled aubergine, and a restaurant with more extravagant meals like hand-stuffed ravioli and solomillo served with a thyme and balsamic glaze at night.

Dining out is a wonderful treat in Ibiza and so is having fun in the evening doing what the locals do. Drop your non-essentials with us and spend an evening walking on the beach or enjoying a cafe.

Transit options in Ibiza

Ibiza Bus service

The buses in Ibiza provide a good service and are the cheapest option for getting around, other than walking. The buses run regularly and connect many of the city’s main beaches and top locations. There’s also the Disco Bus that runs throughout the summer and can bring you between all of the main party resorts and clubs in Ibiza. Bus tickets cost about €3.00 to €6.00.

Taxi Ranks

Taxis are useful for busy tourists and can be hailed right off the street. However, if you’re visiting during peak season you might want to book your taxi in advance since it can be harder to find one that’s available. Traveling from the city centre to the Ibiza airport will have an average cost of between €16.00 and €20.00.

Water taxi

A network of water taxis travels from San Antonio Bay to many of the city’s best beaches, like Playa den Bossa and plenty more. There are also water taxis that can take you to other popular locations, like local markets. The price for a water taxi ticket is about €3.00 to €6.00.
