Old Trafford is arguably one of the most famous football grounds in the world, and home to Manchester United football club, arguably one of the most famous football teams in the world. There is much to do in and around this famous football stadium and, rather than being hampered by large bags, you may want to store them to maximize the pleasure of this iconic visit. Bounce luggage storage teams up with trusted partners in the area and around the world so that you are able to leave your bags in total security and with complete peace of mind.

Built in 1909, this football stadium can seat nearly 75,000 spectators and has been the home to Manchester United football club ever since its creation. That was only interrupted between 1941 and 1949 when the ground was destroyed by German bombing.

Described by Sir Bobby Charlton as 'the theatre of dreams', this is where England won the FIFA World Cup in 1966 - a historic moment that is still close to every English football supporter’s heart. In 1996 the European Football Championship was also held here.

Things to do at Old Trafford

This football stadium is an icon for football fans from around the world, so if you are planning a visit, it is worth booking in advance. Visitors are encouraged not to bring a bag, so think about storing your luggage before you arrive.

  • Get a closer look at the football ground by taking a tour from the Old Trafford museum. Here you’ll get to feel what it is like to walk the players’ tunnel and stroll alongside the pitch, as well as visit the dugouts where so much takes place on big match days.
  • Take home some memorabilia at the Megastore. Stroll the isles and you will soon discover that this is the place to be if you want any of the Man U paraphernalia that proves your loyalty to the Reds.
  • Even if you aren’t feeling peckish, think of the kudos you will achieve when you tell your friends that you have eaten in the famous Red Café. Situated in the Alexa Ferguson stand, directly opposite the museum entrance, this restaurant offers a wide variety of both meals and drinks.
  • Of course, you can take in a game. Although it is not cheap, there’s no reason why you should not purchase a ticket to watch Manchester United play on their famous home ground. Even if you are not lucky enough to watch the famous Red Devils play, you could still enjoy the excitement of watching one of the other matches that are held in this celebrated stadium.
  • Have your photo taken with the holy trinity. George Best, Denis Law, and Bobby Charlton will always be rated as being amongst the most famous Man U players. The statue of these three great footballers stands in front of the grounds and even if you are not fortunate enough to be able to take in a match, you could at least have your photo taken in front of this, the most important of Manchester United’s effigies, to prove you were really there.

Old Trafford transport options

  • The tram offers one of the easiest and fastest options for getting to the grounds. Catch it at Manchester Piccadilly and descend at Old Trafford from where the grounds will be an extra ten-minute walk.
  • Buses run from Manchester City and Chinatown every thirty minutes.
  • The nearest train station is the Manchester United Football Ground which is only open on match days.
