About Mill Avenue District

In the heart of the city, Tempe’s Mill Avenue District is a major shopping, dining, and entertainment hub in Arizona. In fact, this section of the downtown district has the highest concentration of shops, bars, microbreweries, cafés, and restaurants. The nightlife here is legendary, and you can find thousands of locals hitting the clubs and bars after the hot Arizona sun goes down. But don’t worry. It’s a big place with plenty of room for everyone.

From Tempe Town Lake in the north to Kiwanis Park in the south, there are so many things to do, you may find planning tough. If you are looking for culture, visit the Gammage Auditorium on South Forest Avenue, where they have live performances year-round like Hamilton, Cats, and The Nutcracker. Visit the ASU Art Museum on East 10th Street, see a show at the Marquee on North Mill Avenue, or watch a movie at AMC Centerpoint on South Mill Avenue. Or stop in at Harkins Valley Art Theater a little further up the road for a drink and a game of pool with your movie.

Fun Fact: Tempe was named for the Vale of Tempe in Greece.
