Dublin Castle is one of the most famous buildings in Ireland and is an essential part of the country's history. Construction of Dublin Castle began in the 13th century and was the seat of British rule in Ireland for over 700 years. It was commissioned by King John of England and stands upon the site of an old Viking settlement.
