In the southern section of Kowloon in Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui is an urban area with an abundance of entertainment and attractions. Located in the cape of the Kowloon Peninsula just north of Hong Kong Island, the neighborhood is a major tourist destination. It boasts dozens of eateries, shops, and clubs as well as museums, parks, and other cultural attractions. 

The busiest area in Tsim Sha Tsui is Nathan Street, where you can find the majority of pubs, restaurants, hotels, and theaters. Shopping is abundant in the area with a dozen large malls and over 50 smaller shops and boutiques. Eight museums call Tsim Sha Tsui home as do the Clock Tower, Centenary Garden, Avenue of Stars, and the Hong Kong Cultural Center.

Salisbury Road is also a popular visitor spot with the Hong Kong Space Museum, Sogo Department Store, and Tokyu Department Store. Outdoor enthusiasts can spend some time at one of the parks in the area to go hiking, biking, swimming, or take a boat ride. Watch the abundant varieties of birds and other wildlife in the parks and get some selfies in front of one of the local memorials. 

Fun Fact: Kowloon means “nine dragons” in Chinese, and Hong Kong means “fragrant harbor.” 

Things to do at Tsim Sha Tsui

The beautiful and busy Tsim Sha Tsui has so much to do, it is challenging to decide just what to do first. Since you have a limited time in the neighborhood, plan your itinerary before going so you know what you want to do first. We have some suggestions for you to check out.

Less than 10 miles away on Albany Road, the zoo and garden attraction is the oldest park in the territory. Opened in 1871, the collection of plants was quite a bit smaller back then and was just called the botanical gardens. After gathering some birds and mammals in 1875, the name was changed to include the zoo. Some of the mammals you can see include the meerkat, black and white ruffed lemur, and the siamang. Birds include species like the flamingo, pheasant, ibis, and crane. The plants include over 900 species separated into sections such as flowering plants, gardens, and trees. You can take a guided tour if you are there on a Sunday or just browse the park on your own. Don’t forget to get your camera out of your luggage before dropping it off with one of our partners.

Located in the Peak Tower about 23 minutes from Tsim Sha Tsui, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is a fun place to get some awesome selfies. Some of the cool wax sculptures you can see include President Trump, Varun Dhawan, Lee Jong-Suk, and President Xi Jinping. You can even take a walk on the fashion runway with Robert Pattison, Ariana Grande, Kendall Jenner, Johnny Depp, and Angelababy. Don’t miss out on seeing Lady Gaga, Yayoi Kusama, and Joko Widodo. And you can pose with Hulk or Iron Man for some cool selfies as well. Hit the recording studio where you can sing karaoke with GEM, moonwalk with Michael Jackson, and dance with Madonna. Grab a coffee or ice cream from the Selfie Gallery before leaving. And be sure to leave your bags at one of our nearby locations first, because you cannot bring them in here. 

Luggage Storage Near Kowloon Park

Kowloon Park is just five minutes from Tsim Sha Tsui on Nathan Road. The park used to be a British Army base known as Whitfield Barracks, but it was opened as a park in 1970 with over 33 acres and plenty of green space. Walk along the paths lined with bamboo, explore the maze garden, and get a super view of the city from the top of the Viewing Cone. There are several gardens to enjoy. Meander through the sculpture garden, water garden, and the garden of life. If you want to see beautiful birds, check out the aviary where they have more than 300, including parrots, macaws, and cockatoos. And at Bird Lake, they have two different kinds of flamingos, the coscoroba swan, and Hawaiian geese. You can even go for a swim in the pool while you are there. But don’t bring your bags.
