About Museum of Flight

Seattle gets tons of visitors throughout the year. Tourists stop by the Emerald City for all sorts of reasons; some come for Seattle's yearly fairs, while others come to participate in annual cultural events. However, Seattle’s museums are some of the city’s biggest draws. The same goes for neighboring cities, like Tukwila. In this guide, we’re going to discuss one of Tukwila’s most unique locales - the Museum of Flight. Founded during the late-1900s, the Museum of Flight houses a myriad of aircraft, both old and new. Records indicate that a group of aviation enthusiasts established the Museum of Flight in 1964. Their goal was to restore and preserve as many aircraft as they could. By 1975, the Museum of Flight opened to the public.

Anyone visiting the greater Seattle metropolitan area should certainly stop by the Museum of Flight. There’s always a new exhibit to see and new planes to admire. The Museum of Flight also hosts private events like award shows and banquets. This museum is a non-profit venue; donations from visitors and trustee members keep the Museum of Flight up and running - or flying, in this case. Anyone who wants to elevate their trip to new heights should visit the Museum of Flight.

Things to do Near Museum of Flight

Luggage Storage Near Museum of Flight

One might not think so, but Tukwila actually has a fairly large population. In fact, Tukwila’s population has surged to about 20,294 citizens as of 2018. On the plus side, Tukwila is always full of people to meet and mingle with. On the down side, Tukwila can get pretty crowded during certain times of the year. A crowded city means that there are far fewer luggage storage options available. Guests shouldn’t struggle with their luggage while visiting Tukwila, Seattle, or the Museum of Flight. Instead, they should use Bounce.

Luggage Storage Near Aviation Pavilion

The Aviation Pavillion houses 19 exotic planes that can’t be found anywhere else. Some of these planes include the likes of Air Force One and a Boeing 727. The Pavilion also contains an unforgettable interactive exhibit - the FedEx Air Cargo exhibit. Here, visitors can get an in-depth look at how air deliveries are performed.

The Aviation Pavilion is a must-visit locale for anyone who’s heading to the Museum of Flight. Aside from the astonishing aircraft on display here, the Pavilion also has a cafe and a children's play area. Guests should Bounce away their luggage before stopping by.

Luggage Storage Near Museum of Flight Library and Archives

Aviation and Aeronautics are extremely complex fields of science and engineering. It’s difficult to fully understand how aircraft are made and operated, but it isn’t impossible. In fact, that’s where places like the Museum of Flight’s Library and Archives come in. Here, guests can learn the history behind various aircraft. They can also bolster their understanding of how planes work in general.

As one of the largest libraries on the West Coast, this venue has plenty of insightful information on hand. Guests are asked to respect this learning space by remaining quiet and leaving excess luggage behind.

Luggage Storage Near Red Barn

They say that “from humble beginnings come great things.” The Boeing aerospace company could attest to this adage; Boeing is now one of the world’s most prominent and profitable companies, but that wasn’t always the case. The company didn’t always have factories around the world where they could manufacture planes. Back in 1916, all Boeing had was the Red Barn.

Here, Boeing built some of the first commercial planes to ever grace the skies. Now, the Red Barn is a museum that pays homage to Boeing’s history, as well as the history of aviation as a whole.
