This is so much more than just an elegant rooftop bar; it is also a gourmet restaurant. You can sit at the bar, called M Bar, and have one of their signature cocktails while taking in the spectacular views of Syntagma Square and the Acropolis.

Dine on inventive and delicious Mediterranean food. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can request a table indoors or out on the cool rooftop terrace. Either spot offers amazing views while you enjoy a leisurely meal.

Our recommendation:

Stop by M Bar, the rooftop bar that is a part of the Electra Metropolis Roof Garden for a creative cocktail and to listen to a guest DJ spin some tunes for a great cosmopolitan vibe. While you are waiting for your table at the restaurant, visit with friends or just listen to the music.

If you are a guest at the Electra Metropolis Hotel you can take a dip in the rooftop pool before dining on breakfast on the restaurant’s terrace. It is a fantastic way to start your day.

Safestay Athens Rooftop Bar

What’s it like:

Head to Monastiraki Square and check out the laid-back rooftop bar and restaurant serving large portions of traditional Greek food including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When you look out over the city from the Safestay Athens Rooftop Bar you will have a 360-degree unobstructed view of downtown Athens.

The Acropolis is also tucked away in the background, making it an ideal place to snap photos before you dig into the delicious fare that is offered. While this is not a fancy eatery that serves gourmet dishes, it is a great place to hang out and unwind after a day of sightseeing.

Our recommendation:

Slide onto one of their comfortable, well-worn chairs and breathe in the fragrant aroma of a coffee, or sip an ice-cold beer on a hot day. This bar is a fantastic place to meet new friends or catch up with old acquaintances.

Sit on the terrace, where there is outdoor and indoor seating, and take advantage of happy hour while watching a breathtaking sunset. Open year-round, you can come to hang out at any time and mix with locals and tourists.

Acropolis Secret – Roof Garden Bar & Restaurant

What’s it like:

Spend time at this five-star restaurant and bar when you are in the area of the Museum of Acropolis near Acropolis Hill. The Divani Palace Acropolis is where the museum is located and if you head up to the 5th floor, you will find a great secret: a rooftop bar and a restaurant.

The garden terrace has beautiful views of the Acropolis and offers the perfect place to snap some panoramic photos that will make your social media followers jealous. Even though this is a fine dining restaurant, the atmosphere is cozy and more laid-back than other gourmet restaurants in the area.

Our recommendation:

It is best to make a reservation a few days in advance since the Acropolis Secret is only open at night and only during the summer months. When you make your reservation, request one of their pretty tables at the far end of the terrace. This is where you will have some of the best unobstructed views of the Acropolis.

Tudor Hall Restaurant

What’s it like:

It really doesn’t get any better than the Tudor Hall Restaurant in terms of views of the city centre of Athens and several of the amazing historical sites. The modern cuisine highlighted at the restaurant brings you dishes bursting with flavor. The views are just a bonus when you visit.

Even though the food is more modern than you may see in other eateries, there are still a lot of classical Greek influences and it is one of the best restaurants in Athens for you to visit at least once while here. Order one of the signature cocktails or a glass of wine from their rather large wine list.

This stylish restaurant offers a great place to dine and relax after spending time sightseeing or museum hopping in Athens. Come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are open from early morning to late at night. It has one of the best rooftop terraces in the city.

Our recommendation:

It is highly recommended that you make reservations if you are planning on dining at the Tudor Hall Restaurant for dinner. Tables fill fast, no matter the time of year. There is a dress code when you come here so do not come in your tank tops and flip-flops. The dress is elegant smart casual.

Galaxy Restaurant & Bar Hilton Athens

What’s it like:

The open-air cool rooftop terrace offers stunning views of Lycabettus Hill, the Acropolis, and the entire city skyline. With dining and bar seating indoors and outdoors, it is a wonderful place to stop by for fresh Mediterranean cuisine. The bar even has a food menu including fresh sushi. Head to the Evangelismos neighborhood, which is close to fabulous shopping.

You can sit in the bar area or the restaurant seating and still have breathtaking views. Visit during the evening for a colorful and vibrant sunset. This is a more upscale establishment so be sure to dress accordingly, their dress code is smart casual.

Our recommendation:

Visit on the weekend, especially late at night for a vibrant, hip and large crowd with hopping music. There is usually a themed party of some kind going on during the weekend that is fun for everyone. Bring some friends and party the night away!

Thea Terrace Bar

What’s it like:

Located only a short distance from Syntagma Square in the Plaka neighborhood, the Thea Terrace Bar is an absolute must-visit when you are in Athens. Views of the city centre are magnificent from this bar and make it one of the best places to snap some selfies with the city skyline in the background.

With a mix of high-backed bar stools and dining tables, you and your friends can get cozy and spend a few hours catching up over great drinks. Try the Mediterranean and Greek food including delicious pizzas.

The vertical flower garden on the terrace releases mild fragrances all around you and is beautiful to see. The gorgeous leafy rooftop terrace is a wonderful place to relax.

Our recommendation:

With the bar open year-round, you can visit from morning to night. Wake up with a fragrant coffee and a quick snack, or drop in later in the day to watch the activity of the city below. After a day filled with sightseeing, stop by and unwind with a beer, glass of wine, or creative cocktail. NEW Art Lounge

What’s it like:

This stylish and trendy rooftop restaurant and bar is a part of the Athens art scene and is a cultural centre for Syntagma Square. Being inside the NEW Hotel, the art lounge has access to the hotel’s library where more than 2000 art books are housed. You can even borrow a book while you hang out in the NEW Art Lounge, part of the Athens arts scene.

The lounge offers 360-degree views from inside or out on the roof terrace. Views of the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, Lycabettus Hill, and the Parliament will take your breath away. Have a leisurely meal at the NEW Art Lounge. The menu is filled with mind-blowing Mediterranean and Greek inspired dishes.

Our recommendation:

Give the NEW Taste Hamburger a try, it is made with 100% American Angus beef, is thick, juicy, and just like you would get in the United States. The Kritharoto, slow cooked pork, is their signature dish and is an absolute must try. Pair your meal with a wonderfully smooth Greek wine.

Come for brunch on the weekends, which is only available from May through October. It is a great way to enjoy brunch on a rooftop looking out over Athens and several amazing landmarks.

Hotel Novotel Athenes

What’s it like:

Head right into the heart of Athens for majestic views from the Hotel Novotel Athenes rooftop bar and restaurant, called Clare de Lune. If you are staying at the hotel, you can take a dip in their rooftop pool and then relax in the bar or sit down to a wonderful meal at the restaurant.

Views from the pool, bar, and restaurant offer grand views of the city skyline, Lycabettus Hill, and the Acropolis. Come spend an hour or two relaxing during the day or evening. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dining menu is not extensive but the food is tasty.

Our recommendation:

Relax on the open-air terrace with all their comfy deckchairs, lounge sofas, and umbrellas. The multi-level terrace offers seating for dining near the pool or on the upper terrace. Order one of their tasty cocktails and if you are a hotel guest, stretch out next to the pool.

Sky Lounge Rooftop Dining Bar

What’s it like:

Offering one of the best rooftop terraces in Athens, the Sky Lounge Rooftop Dining Bar has an excellent dining menu as well as specialty drinks and craft beers. The terrace is only open seasonally and is closed during the cold months.

There are spectacular views from the bar that include Lycabettus Hill and the Acropolis. There is even a rooftop pool complete with a pool bar that is open during the day. Hotel guests can take advantage of the pool and a lounge with a jacuzzi.

Our recommendation:

If you are not a hotel guest, visit the Sky Lounge Rooftop Dining Bar at night when they open their doors to everyone, not just hotel guests. The dining menu is filled with a la carte items of Greek origins. Sip a glass of Greek wine or order a cocktail while munching on some snacks while watching a breathtaking sunset.
