Ermou Street

Ermou Street is a well-known pedestrian shopping area with restaurants, local stores selling Greek products, and international name brands. It’s been a locally family-run business for about two generations, and their food has a home-cooked taste that you just don’t get at every restaurant. It’s hard to say what to order, but previous guests have loved the stuffed pepper, cheese and spinach crepes, moussaka, and grilled pork. This restaurant is close to the Acropolis Museum; consider visiting the museum before your meal.

Cookoovaya

Cookoovaya serves innovative dishes, offering modern Greek cuisine with a twist. The restaurant has a comfy setting with both indoor and outdoor seating, and since many of the dishes are best shared, it’s a good place to dine with family and friends. There’s lots to choose from since they have several menus, one of which is filled with vegan dishes. Try the tarama and grilled phylo or grilled octopus with fava. They also have fantastic Greek pies with unique flavors, including black pork bacon, mushrooms and truffles, or Greek beef filet.

Hytra Restaurant & Bar

Even if you’re used to fine dining, the experience offered at Hytra is unlike anywhere else. The interior of the restaurant and bar is atmospheric, with intimate lighting, and the outdoor terrace is nothing short of spectacular, with incredible views of the surrounding landscape. They use herbs, meat, vegetables and seafood that’s locally sourced, and with a multi-course menu, you’ll not be leaving hungry. Be prepared for dishes like savaro oysters and tomato trout served with pickled strawberries. Don’t skip out on dessert. They have some great choices.
