With strong winds creating the largest waves of any Turkish beach, Kilyos is a surfer’s dream. There are many small businesses offering rentals and lessons for both surfers and kiteboarding. The strong surf and undertows do make Kilyos less ideal for swimming, especially for beginners and children.

Like all the best beaches, Kilyos is most popular during the summer. This means there will be crowds. The main advantage of visiting Kilyos is how close it is to Istanbul. During the off-season, you can wait for unseasonably nice weather to take a quick trip to this sandy beach.
