What was once an industrial area, Ouseburn has been turned into a fantastic place to live and work. With a number of creative and amazing businesses, this neighborhood is home to several musicians and artists. Visitors find Ouseburn interesting and love to check out the Victoria Tunnel which is a well-preserved wagon way that dates back to the 19th century. The tunnel leads from Tyne to Moor.

Where to Stay in Gateshead

So technically Gateshead is its own city but it is just an extension of Newcastle. Newcastle and Gateshead are connected by the metro and it is a very short trip to go back and forth between the two. Therefore, you can find a great hotel in Gateshead, explore the area a bit and then head to Newcastle to check out all the great things offered.

Gateshead sits on the southern bank of the River Tyne, whereas Newcastle is on the north bank. The two cities are connected not just by metro by also by bridge. There are seven bridges total that connect the two cities. When staying in Gateshead take the time to check out the Angel of the North, The Sage, and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art.
