Bar in Turin, Italy

Italy is known for its diverse nightlife experiences. Most Italian cities have a wide array of drinking options; whether it’s renowned wine bars, piazza-side cafes, or buzzy nightclubs, there is something for just about everyone.

One of the most underrated fixtures for nightlife in an Italian city has to be rooftop bars and restaurants. With a wide mix of modern and historic architecture, gorgeous cityscapes, and outstanding food and drink options, rooftop terraces are some of the best places to grab a drink. Turin, one of the true gems of Northern Italy, is no different. Turin’s city centre and historic district have a number of world-class drinking establishments located on rooftop terraces, piazzas, and other beautiful vantage points. Not every worthwhile drinking experience is on rooftop bars, though. They can be on trams, an old Fiat car factory, piazza side cafes, or Medieval buildings. Turin has them all.

Rooftop dining and drinking is the perfect activity for either a group of friends after a successful afternoon of shopping, sightseeing, or a long day of travel. Just remember to drop the bags off at a convenient Bounce luggage storage location before heading to the rooftops for an epic night of breathtaking views and delicious cocktails.

Bar Cavour

One of the most popular and trendy cocktail bars in Turin is located on a gorgeous rooftop, with Turin’s legendary Michelin-star restaurant downstairs, Del Cambio. While a table at this legendary trattoria might be nearly impossible to nail down at the last minute (you can always make a reservation well in advance), Bar Cavour is a solid option for a trendy specialty cocktail and some light appetizers after a full day of sightseeing in Turin. The bar’s interior is as stylish as it gets, with dark green velvet walls and classic decor. You’ll certainly want to snap a few pics of the bar for Instagram. The cocktails? These trendy creations are as photogenic as they are delicious.

Our Recommendation:

Bar Cavour has a stellar reputation for serving some of the tastiest modern cocktails in Turin. While they certainly prepare delicious classic cocktails, spritzes, and premium liquor, their original cocktail creations are Bar Cavour’s claim to fame. Trying one of their homemade concoctions off their rotating menu, you’ll be googling how to become an at-home mixologist. With a phenomenal atmosphere and delicious cocktails, this spot certainly deserves its place among the best cocktail bars in Turin. The delicious concoctions prove it's way more than a set of dark green velvet walls to take an Instagram in front of. Don't worry, you can always try to get a table at the Michelin star restaurant downstairs. After drinks at Bar Cavour, head over to the nearby Mad Dog Social Club for subterranean cocktails.

Bar Ristorante Arancia di Mezzanotte

This classic Italian trattoria and café have been providing locals and (in-the-know) travelers with a quintessential Turin drinking and dining experience for decades.  Their outdoor patio has a prime location overlooking the Piazza Emanuele Filberto. Customers lounging at a table will be treated to some of the best people-watching in the city. Turin’s historic district has hundreds of quality options for dining and drinking, but this has to be one of the best.

This stylish restaurant is located near Bounce’s Porta Susa luggage storage location, so you can drop the bags off before setting up shop on the patio to enjoy an afternoon of unbeatable ambiance and delicious food and drinks.

Our Recommendation:

Their patio’s views are as good as any of the best rooftop bars in Turin, but their traditional Piedmontese cuisine and wine are equally important draws for Arancia de Mezzanotte. Sample vintage selections from their deep wine menu, which focuses on the legendary Piedmont region. They also serve the boozy and robust Grappa style of wine, which will certainly warm you up if you’re dining on the patio during fall or spring.

Location:

Piazza Emanuele Filiberto, 11I, 10122 Torino TO, Italy

Caffè del Borgo Medievale

While most rooftop bars and restaurants are situated atop modern skyscrapers and hotels, this quaint café overlooks the Po River from an ancient building’s outdoor terrace in the Parco del Valentino. This quaint bar doubles as a trendy cafe and a superb Medieval landmark, with epic views of this well-maintained historic building and the gorgeous River Po. The location in Turin’s Parco del Valentino really sets this café up nicely for foot traffic, but their outdoor terrace is rarely overrun with crowds.

Caffè del Borgo Medievale is located near the Marconi Station luggage storage spot. So drop your bags off, head to the park for a nice walk, and reward yourself with a spritz and some unforgettable views at this landmark café. This is mostly a day-time spot, so you can head to any one of Turin's amazing cocktail bars after.

Our Recommendation:

While the menu is fairly simple compared to the best cocktails bars in the city, this rooftop terrace on the river does serve some quality Italian cuisine. Given the location, they surprisingly serve some of the best vegetarian options in Turin. Expect some nice pasta and sandwich options that are more geared toward lunch than dinner. First and foremost, this is a café, so expect quality pastries, coffee, and even gelato. But they do serve some tasty cocktails, especially their great vermouth-based drinks. Given their location in the park, you’ll find most afternoon customers lounging in the sun over a tasty and refreshing spritz.

Viale Enrico Millo, 6, 10126 Torino TO, Italy

Gustotram

This restaurant offers, literally, dinner on a tramcar. Located along the Turin city centre railway, Gustotram serves dinner and drinks along with a view of most of downtown Turin! Because of the naturally limited space on the tramcar, “reservations recommended” is their policy. This is a popular tourist attraction for both travelers and locals.

There is no flashy tour guide or show, just a simple, elegant meal served in a unique setting. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with Turin, so having your first dinner in town on the Gustotram is a great idea!

Our Recommendation:

The food here is simple but well-executed. There will be a nice selection of pasta, appetizers, and regional Piedmont wine. The food is luckily prepared in a building and not a vehicle, so it tastes great, and their wine options are shockingly fine. At the same time, the main draw at Gustotram is the novel experience of having dinner and sunset drinks while being driven around Turin, so don't expect a Michelin-starred experience.

Piazza Castello, 10124 Torino TO, Italy

Bar in Turin

Lobelix Cafe

This is one of your quintessential Turin cafés. This quaint bar is situated along the Piazza Vittorio, so the people-watching from the outdoor seating is top-notch. The spacious patio has plenty of seating along the piazza, with larger groups being able to grab a table or two to share afternoon spritzes and aperitivos. Lobelix is located near Bounce’s Porta Susa luggage storage spot. This quaint bar doubles as a trendy cafe, so you can stop by for coffee or sunset drinks.

Our Recommendation:

The wine menu at Lobelix features a large regional and local selection of wines from Piedmont and Langhe. Of course, they also serve local Grappa for a boozy post-dinner digestif. In terms of food, they have a small menu of quality pasta, pastries in the morning, and sandwiches for lunch.

Location:

Piazza Savoia, 4, 10122 Torino TO, Italy

Otium Pea Club

This sprawling rooftop terrace has multiple areas with a nice variety of vibes. There is a club area with panoramic views of Turin’s city center, with regularly-programmed DJ nights and a swanky cocktail bar. For more reserved guests, there is a spa area that includes a Turkish Bath, saunas, and a swimming pool. There is also a beautiful restaurant with wonderful views and stylish, modern takes on Italian cuisine.

Our Recommendation:

The upscale food and drink offerings of their Lounge Bar are nothing short of outstanding. They have brought in some of the best chefs in Turin to curate a menu of sleek pastas, shareable Spanish tapas, and modern steaks and chops. To drink, there is a deep wine menu featuring selections from around the world and a menu of signature cocktails.

Location:

Via Ermanno Fenoglietti, 20, 10126 Torino TO, Italy

Piano35 Bar

Located near the Giardino Nicola Grosa community garden in Turin, this modern bar is one of the most fashionable in the city. The building it’s perched atop is Turin’s premier skyscraper in terms of architectural design, aesthetics, and environmental innovation. The view from the rooftop terrace bar is equally impressive, with plenty of greenery to go along with the Turin skyline. On nights and weekends, live music accompanies dinner and drinks. More often than not, elegant piano music drifts across the terrace with the evening breeze, but from time to time there are rowdy DJ sets. Whatever the vibe is, this is one amazing rooftop bar to head to for a few drinks.

Our Recommendation:

While the main reason to head to the top of this particular skyscraper has to be the panoramic view that includes a portion of the Alps, Piano35 does serve some delicious specialty cocktails, tasty apps, and modern Italian cuisine.

Location:

Grattacielo Intesa Sanpaolo, C.so Inghilterra, 3, 10138 Torino TO, Italy

SoHo Rooftop Bar

While it may not be located 3,000 feet above the ground on some hotel’s roof deck, SoHo is without a doubt one of the best rooftop bars in the entire city. With a stylish interior and comfortable outdoor seating overlooking the famous plaza, the Piazza Vittorio Veneto, it’s no wonder why this stylish bar is so popular with fashionable locals and travelers. Despite the “clubby” vibe and sleek decor, SoHo has one of the best locations in the city for an afternoon drink at one of their patio tables, with stunning views of the historic centre of Turin.

Our Recommendation:

Being one of Turin's best signature cocktail bars, SoHo will likely feel familiar to Americans who travel through New York and Los Angeles. Their mixologists are hard at work crafting a delicious concoction featuring a wide (and we mean wide) variety of ingredients. All of the syrups, bitters, and other ingredients are made in-house and are employed to make their signature drinks truly unique, or spice up classics like martinis or Old Fashioneds. Their great Vermouth-based drinks are a specialty of the house, so ask your bartender what they'd recommend.

SoHo Turin is first and foremost a cocktail bar, so it’s best to head there for drinks after a meal at one of Turin’s traditional cafés or trattorias.

Location:

Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 23F, 10124 Torino TO, Italy

Palace Hotel Open-Air Terrace

Palace Hotel is one of the premier places to stay in Turin for many reasons, but its stunning rooftop terrace has to be the top one. Fortunately for travelers and locals alike, access to their rooftop bar isn’t limited to hotel guests. Their spacious open-air bar area has plenty of comfortable seats with stellar views of Turin city centre, the River Po, Parco del Valentino, and the surrounding countryside. While this hotel is part of the Turin skyline, guests are still able to appreciate the views of neighboring buildings and enjoy a few cocktails while they’re at it. In terms of the layout, the bar operates inside, and the outdoor seating area situates customers for unforgettable views from one of Turin's truly exceptional cocktail bars.

Our Recommendation:

The food and drink options on the rooftop terrace bar are as luxurious as the setting. The modern-Italian fare on offer is exceptional, with upscale versions of regional classics like Veal Milanese, and a rotating appetizer menu that pairs well with their signature cocktails. Expect a nice wine menu that features local and international options. There are a few signature cocktails they concoct themselves, along with some familiar classics.

Location:

Via Paolo Sacchi, 8, 10128 Torino TO, Italy
