The Best Music Festivals in Los Angeles in 2022

Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival

Almost everyone has heard of Coachella, as it is one of the oldest and most popular music events in California. For two whole weekends at the end of April, you can have an unforgettable experience watching all of the top artists and performers right here in Los Angeles. This year it's planned for three days on the last two weekends of April, from the 15th to 17th and the 22nd to 24th.

There is something here for everyone since the festival encompasses all genres and music types. The Empire Polo Club serves as the venue and during the festival the space is transformed with a massive stage as well as food and drink vendors set up around the area. This year's headliners are Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and Ye as well as the Swedish House Mafia making an appearance. Hundreds of celebrities perform and tickets sell out quickly, so keep an eye out for next year's release date if you weren't able to get tickets this year. This concert is held at one of the best times to visit LA, but it's often difficult to get a ticket

Stagecoach Country Music Festival

Stagecoach is the country music version of Coachella and it is actually the biggest festival of its kind in the world. All of the biggest country stars play here so keep an eye out for tickets since the 2022 dates are from the 29th of April to the 1st of May. Some of the names in the lineup play folk, bluegrass or roots rock music so it is actually quite diverse. The festival is hosted in the same spot as Coachella at the Empire Polo Club.

If you are spending 3 days in LA, this is a terrific way to pass the time! This is one of Los Angeles's biggest events and back in 2019, it brought in an impressive 80,000 guests, which just shows how much it has grown since the first performance in 2007. Keep an eye out for singers like Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, the Black Crows, Thomas Rhett and Brothers Osborne.

BeachLife Festival

If you are visiting Los Angeles in May and want to enjoy some great live music then you should try to grab a pass to the BeachLife Festival. The 2022 dates are from May 13th to 15th and it is going to be an event to remember. This is a popular festival for surfers and locals of Southern California but lots of people travel into the city to attend it as well. The fest is happening on Redondo Beach, CA.

The lineups are mainly rock, alternative Indie and similar genres, with some great performers like the Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, the Steve Miller Band and 311. Other artists that are playing at this year's BeachLife Festival include Cold War Kids, Black Pumas, Stone Temple Pilots, Vance Joy, Cage the Elephant, Lord Huron and Sheryl Crow. Many more great names are set to make an appearance so don't miss out!

Cruel World Festival

Happening at almost the same time as the BeachLife Festival is the Cruel World Festival which will have a completely different vibe. You can attend this festival from May 14th to 15th and it is hosted at the Rose Bowl grounds in Pasadena. This festival celebrates the post-punk, new-wave, goth and '80s rock music genres.

Some of the featured groups include Morrissey, Public Image LTD, Violent Femmes, the Psychedelic Furs, Echo & the Bunnymen, English Beat, Bauhaus, The Church, Devo and Blondie, to name a few. It was originally supposed to be a one day show but after tickets sold out so quickly they decided to add a second date!

Lightning in a Bottle

The Lightning in a Bottle celebration has quite an interesting story; it first started as a birthday party but after four years it grew significantly and officially became a public activity in 2004. You can now grab passes to the festival which will be at Bakersfield's Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area. This year's dates are from the 25th to the 30th of May, 2022.

This music festival is unlike the others since, although its main focus is music, it also celebrates wellness, food, art and yoga. This is an event hosted by independent organizers offering a unique experience every year, and this year is looking amazing. Come see Glass Animals, Purity Ring, Kaytranada, Jon Hopkins, Little Simz, Four Tet, Chet Faker, Black Coffee and more.

SPLASH HOUSE Palm Springs Pool + Music Weekend

Are you ready for a weekend of great music, swimming and partying? You better be, because SPLASH HOUSE is coming to several hotel resorts in Palm Springs from June 1oth to August 21st, so you will have lots of time to participate. This year the venues are Saguaro, the Renaissance and Margaritaville.

One ticket gets you admission to all three of the venues so you can bounce between them all. Some of the artists who will play for you include Hayden James, Dombresky, Channel Tres, Noizu and Diplo, plus many more.

Zedd in the Park

Are you a fan of electronic music? Are you familiar with the German musical star named Anton Zaslavski, also known as Zedd? If so then you will want to mark July 8th on your calendar, since it is when Zedd in the Park is happening in Los Angeles's very own State Historic Park.

Although Zedd is the headliner he is not the only one that you will get to watch perform. You might also recognize the music of Wolfgang Gartner, Loud Luxury, Regard, Brownies and Lemonade as well as So Tuff So Cute.

HARD Summer Music Festival

At the HARD Summer Music Festival you will enjoy a mix of musical entertainment somewhere between the line of underground and EDM tunes. Get ready to rave between July 29th to 31st in San Bernadino which is just a ways outside of the Los Angeles city limits.

You might recognize some of the names like Megan Thee Stallion, Zeds Dead, Joji, Porter Robinson, Alison Wonderland, Madeon, DJ Snake, Dillon Francis and Chris Lake, to name a few. This is bound to be a super fun event so try to grab a ticket before it sells out!

Desert Daze

Another fantastic Los Angeles music fest is Desert Daze, which is set on the beautiful Moreno Beach. The festival is happening from September 30th to October 2nd, so save those dates in case you want to attend! It is also a great time to visit Los Angeles so you can make the most of your vacation by sightseeing around the city at the same time.

This event does not bring in the biggest names in the industry but the lineups are carefully selected in a way that compliment each other and also to give some emerging artists a chance to shine. Come see Japanese Breakfast, The War On Drugs, Ty Segall, Toro Y Moi, Kamasi Washington, Yves Tumor, Weyes Blood and Tim Heidecker.

Ohana Festival

Unfortunately, you will have to pick between the Ohana Festival and Desert Daze since they are both happening at the same time, from September 30th to October 2nd. However, both music festivals are incredible and this one has some really great singers too! It is happening in Los Angeles Orange County at the Doheny State Beach.

You won't want to miss this one with Pearl Jam as the head performer and other great groups like P!nk, Jack White, Stevie Nicks, St. Vincent, Brittany Howard and Khruangbin also playing. Make sure you grab a spot as soon as they go on sale since they may sell out quickly.

When We Were Young

Grab some friends and buy passes to When We Were Young, a fun music festival that will remind you of the early 2000s and make you feel young again. This event is happening on October 22nd, 23rd and 29th of this year. Although it is a bit of a drive (about 4 hours) from Los Angeles since it is taking place in Las Vegas, it is definitely worth the trip.

The lineup includes all of the most iconic punk rock bands including My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Taking Back Sunday, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Bright Eyes, Alkaline Trio, Dashboard Confessional, The Used and AFI. You can't help but be excited with some great performers like that!

Emo's Not Dead

Are you ready to discover a whole new way of listening to music? Emo's Not Dead is a musical festival unlike the others around the globe. Instead of being set in a park or theater, this event takes place on the water for an exciting and unforgettable four day cruise! The boat takes off from the port in San Pedro, LA and docks at Ensenada, Mexico. Save the date of November 8th.

You will be treated to live music performances almost all day during the cruise and there are some great names on the lineup. Plain White T's, New Found Glory, Underoath, Dashboard Confessional, Hawthorne Heights and Silverstein are some of the names that will be joining you on the journey.

Rolling Loud California

Back in San Bernadino, California is a much awaited hip hop music festival that you should definitely check out. The dates are not yet released but it will be happening sometime in December of 2022, so keep an eye out for any updates to buy a ticket before they sell out!

This is a premier event that began in Miami in 2015 but has since moved across the world to different places including Portugal and around the United States, and now it happens every year in Los Angeles. If you are familiar with the hip hop genre you will recognize the names on the lineup like Kid Cudi, Future, Wiz Khalifa, Kodak Black, J. Cole, Playboi Carti and Gunna.
