For completely vegan food that tastes as good as it looks, Velicious is about a mile from the Notre Dame Cathedral. It is not just vegan-friendly, but is also 100% plant-based food. No animal products are served in Velicious so you do not have to worry about your veggies being contaminated by meat.

Our recommendation:

This Strasbourg vegan restaurant is a cozy little space with soft comfortable seating and greenery adorning the walls. Whether you are hungry for savory foods, vegan dessert, or a salad with a glass of one of their natural sodas, you can get all that and more here. We recommend the loaded hotdogs. They also have a fast food place called Velicious Burgers at 18 Rue des Bateliers nearby with a little patio.

Harmonie Bowl & Juice

What's it like:

For Asian-style vegan food, Harmonie Bowl & Juice is a fine choice. They have a wide variety of dishes from bowls of kimchi to turmeric pancakes with sprouted seeds and sauteed tofu. Try the Tokyo Bowl filled with organic brown rice, seaweed, and marinated avocado and cucumber.

Our recommendation:

For dessert, we recommend you try the chia pudding with coconut milk and seasonal fruit or the vegan cake of the day. This vegan Strasbourg restaurant is popular though so you will want to get there early. But be prepared to stand in line.

What's it like:

In the mood for Indian food? Tamil, right next to St. Thomas Church is a hidden gem in the middle of Strasbourg. This lovely restaurant is named after the tandoor, which is a terra cotta oven. Although they do not use the traditional way of burying the pot in the ground to cook, they use it on the grill for the same authentic taste.

Our recommendation:

Even though they do serve meat, they also have many vegetarian options to choose from including vegetarian pakora, aloo gobi matar made with potatoes, cauliflower, and peas, and daal panch phoron with five kinds of grilled lentils. You cannot go wrong here whatever you choose.

L'Atelier

What's it like:

Less than a mile from the cathedral, L'Atelier is popular with everyone from the locals to the tourists. You will find this amazing restaurant to be a popular spot with both locals and tourists. Both places offer vegetarian options, vegan food, or meat dishes as well as gluten-free choices. We recommend the chocolate mousse.

Our recommendation:

The outdoor seating is great when the weather is nice and the atmosphere is delightful but the inside is cozy and quaint. Although the majority of the dishes are meat, they have some of the best salads and desserts in the city. This is a great place to go when vegetarians and meat-eaters want to eat together.

Au Cedre

What's it like:

Where do you go when you want Lebanese vegetarian food? Au Cedre, just north of Notre Dame, serves the best Lebanese cuisine in Strasbourg according to the locals. You know if the locals go there, it has to be good. They even have Oriental dance shows on the weekends.

Our recommendation:

The delicate tastes and fragrant aromas coming from the kitchen will make your mouth water and you will be in awe when you see the artistic presentation. The food is made with local fresh and organic products daily. Be sure to try the vegetarian mezze platter.

Végéman Vegan Food

What's it like:

You can find this vegan restaurant near the banks of the Ill River. If you want something fast and delicious but also nutritious, Vegeman Vegan serves a variety of vegan kebabs and Turkish wraps as well as veggie burgers with fries, sandwiches, and nuggets.

Our recommendation:

Vegeman uses seitan instead of meat for all of its meat dishes so you cannot even tell you are eating plant-based ingredients. Their unique restaurant is all green from the electricity to the furniture. We suggest you try their cheezy sticks or if you have a sweet tooth, try the cakes.

Pizz'arome Vegan

What's it like:

For those who love pizza, Pizz'arome Vegan is waiting for you. You buy pizza by the slice here so you can get many different vegan flavors. Of the vegan restaurants in Strasbourg, France, this one has it all including vegan baguette sandwiches and bakery items.

Our recommendation:

The salad bar here is incredible with an assortment of vegan cheese and fresh veggies. The pizza toppings are also unique with new menus every day. This is not just the best vegan pizza in town, it is the best pizza in town. This hidden gem only serves vegan so we recommend you try it all.

Au Potiron Vegetarian

What's it like:

Another one of the vegan Strasbourg restaurants that serve vegan burgers and pizza, Au Potiron is located by Orphelans Square. The French-style pizza includes toppings like mushrooms, zucchini, arugula, and eggplant.

Our recommendation:

This casual eatery has mostly vegan-friendly food but some of them are vegetarian so you do have to read the menu. However, it is clearly marked for you to see. Make sure you try the vegan ratatouille with eggplant and zucchini. It is a dinner that you will not forget.

Cafe Potager

What's it like:

Cafe Potager may not be a completely vegan restaurant, but it has many vegan and vegetarian food items to choose from. Located across from Kleber Place, there is a wide variety of delicious dishes.

Our recommendation:

The name actually means Cafe Vegetable Garden, so you know the dishes are fresh. The green salad with tofu, avocado, and lentils is delicious but you should really try the zucchini mint quiche made with tofu, mint, lime, fresh basil, and garlic.

Houmous & Co

What's it like:

Also known as Hummus & Co, this is another one of the Lebanese restaurants in Strasbourg, France that serves vegan food. This fabulous eatery is perfect for all types of diners and preferences so don't miss it when visiting Strasbourg. The falafel is popular with the locals and the hummus is crazy good.

Our recommendation:

Organic, fresh, and vegan-friendly, you will have so many choices on the menu you will have to take some to go. They also serve halal dishes, lactose-free, and gluten-free items so everyone can enjoy their food. There is also outdoor seating and organic coffee. We recommend the must-try batata harra spicy potatoes.

Cigkoftem

What's it like:

Cigkoftem is a casual Turkish restaurant located next to Kleber Place. There are dozens of these vegan restaurants around France and Germany but this one is the most vegan-friendly. The vegan kofte made from tomato, bulgur, and spices is divine.

Our recommendation:

We think you should try the durum pita filled with fresh seasonal veggies. It is seasoned with a variety of herbs and spices so it is unlike anything you ever had. They have many vegan dishes, but the desserts and drinks may contain honey or dairy products.

La Namaste

What's it like:

This is a vegan-friendly Middle Eastern restaurant in Strasbourg that offers a number of vegetarian and vegan options. This is a nice type of casual-sophisticated place with linens and fine glassware with a floral arrangement at each table. The presentation is photo-worthy so you can take some shots for Instagram. Also, it is right across from Europa Park so you can go play there afterward.

Our recommendation:

Some of the most popular dishes include vegan cheese salads, hummus, falafel, and other vegan food. The staff here are so accommodating that you can order your dish as spicy – or non-spicy – as you like. We recommend the Eggplant Punjabi or the Dhaba Dal.

Hey Mama

What's it like:

Vegan breakfast is just as delicious in Strasbourg, especially at Hey Mama. Located by the juncture of the Faux-Rempart Canal and Ill River, this is the place to start your day. The casual artsy cafe is full of plants and other healthy decors with petite tables and wood floors.

Our recommendation:

The menu is full of delicious dishes including gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. They even have a kids' section with their own menu. The jerk tacos make a fantastic spicy breakfast or you can stick with the traditional granola or pancakes.

Arundo la Petite Cantine Vegan

What's it like:

Arundo la Petite Cantine Vegan is a classy but casual vegan restaurant you should try at least once. It has an outdoor terrace you can enjoy during pleasant weather too. It's the ideal locale for sitting and reflecting on the day.

Our recommendation:

Many locals get takeout meals to eat all week at home. You will also find gluten-free and lactose-free dishes and drinks here. Try the Tuscan salad with pearl barley or stir-fried Spanish vegetables. The quiche with summer veggies is also a wonderful choice for your entree.

Bistrot & Chocolat

What's it like:

The kitchen is open every day, 24 hours a day so you can always get something delicious whenever the craving hits you. You can find Bistrot & Chocolat right outside the Rohan Palace. For over 15 years, the restaurant has been serving sweet and savory vegan delights.

Our recommendation:

Yes, everything at this cafe is vegan, including the chocolate! Besides the chocolate, we recommend the vegan burgers made with tofu steak and served with sautéed apples and carrots with rosemary and beetroot ketchup. They even have vegan sushi.

Les GaRnements

What's it like:

Here the menu is always changing so you can get something new every time you visit. Les GaRnements can be found in southern Strasbourg. You have your choice of letting them serve you a full three-course meal or picking from the menu yourself. There are vegan and meat dishes.

Our recommendation:

The family brasserie is owned and run by brothers Renaud and Guillaume, who are very friendly and laid-back. We recommend the crispy breaded eggplant with herbs and yogurt sauce or the homemade focaccia with seasonal veggies and seitan. For dessert, try the fresh fruit salad or vegan creme brulee.

This is not a complete list of all the vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurants in Strasbourg but this is a good sample of some of the popular places to dine. Although the city is not known for its vegan and vegetarian eateries, they do have quite a few and new ones are popping up all the time.
