Above5 Rooftop Bar

What's it like:

Above5 Rooftop Bar is the most popular rooftop bar in Dubrovnik. Located in the middle of Old Town Dubrovnik at the Stari Grad Boutique Hotel, you will not get a view like this anywhere else in town. The hotel also has the Icona Thai Spa where you can refresh and unwind before or after your tasty rooftop meal.

Our recommendation:

Surrounded by the ancient city walls and boasting a mention in the Michelin Guide, you will need to reserve a space way in advance if you plan to visit this sensational spot at the Hotel Stari Grad Boutique. It is particularly popular at sunset so try to get a reservation for around that time. Just a block from the Franciscan Church and Monastery built in the 1300s and the Tvrdava MInceta fortress, you will be in awe of the amazing sightseeing opportunity. You are also not far from the Beer Factory on Miha Pracata if you want to continue the fun night until 1 AM.

Location:

4 Od Sigurate at the Stari Grad Boutique Hotel

Buza Bar (Buža Bar)

What's it like:

A basically simple bar that is crowded from the time they open until well after closing time, this bar is not for those who do not like crowds. Or those who are afraid of heights. They only serve beer and wine here but don't worry, they have another location called Buza Bar II with all sorts of cocktails. There are no reservations so you may end up sitting on the stairs.

Our recommendation:

Not to be confused with Buzz Bar, this cliffside spot has been named both the 12th best rooftop bar in Europe and the 34th best bar overall in Europe. Literally, a hole in the wall (the Great Wall) on the side of a cliff, if you do not have GPS to get you there, you may need to just follow the locals. At both of these bars, you can walk down to the sea and take a dip or enjoy some thrilling cliff diving from the rocks. But remember it is swimming at your own risk and if you have had a few drinks, jumping off a cliff may not be the best idea.

Location:

Buza Bar is at Crijevićeva ul. 9, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia, and Buza Bar II is found at Croatia, Ul. Ispod Mira 14, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Love Bar

What's it like:

What used to be a factory was turned into a bar with a stunning terrace in 2018. This is not as crowded as many of the rooftop bars but you still get breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and incredible drinks as you enjoy the Mediterranean sun. It is a great place to have a seat and a cocktail whether you came to party or just to relax.

Our recommendation:

This is more than just a bar. It is the perfect place to enjoy espresso drinks, tea, and the sunset. The snacks are limited to just pretzels and peanuts but you did not come here to eat anyway, right? The menu is two pages of drinks from brandy to vodka, several dozen kinds of wine, and an array of beers. Located right next to the Dubrovnik Beer Company, you can take a brewery tour before enjoying this rooftop terrace bar. You will be overlooking the bay, Port Gruz, several islands, and the Dubrovnik Marina.

Location:

Ul. Andrije Hebranga 95, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Stara Loza

What's it like:

Stara Loza is a sophisticated dining establishment at the Prijeko Palace that serves dinner and drinks at the rooftop bar. Sure, the place has a ground floor with chandeliers and linen tablecloths, but you want to keep going up to the top for the best views in the city. The medieval-style building in the heart of Old Town is a delight for anyone who likes to be pampered while getting must-see views of the city.

Our recommendation:

This is another restaurant on the Michelin Guide for its food as well as its seating and views you cannot forget. The cuisine is a fusion of Asian, Italian, and Croatian prepared by a skilled team. Booking your space is necessary too because they fill up fast. Game of Thrones fans will be thrilled to be within walking distance of the Church of St. Ignatius where you can find the Walk of Shame staircase from the show.

Location:

Prijeko ul. 24, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Restaurant Panorama

What's it like:

More than 2,500 feet above the city, the Restaurant Panorama rooftop bar is the perfect place to sip a glass of wine at a decent price with a stunning view of the rocks leading down into the city and out onto the sea. It is a bit fancy and incredibly popular but even with the food, you will not be shellshocked when the bill comes.

Our recommendation:

You will need reservations for this popular spot, so make sure to set them way in advance. You can find this incredible bar at the top of Mount Srd between the Homeland War Museum and the Kriz Stone Cross lookout area. If you do not plan to take the hiking trail, you will need to take the Dubrovnik Cable Car. The cable car takes about 10 minutes but the hike takes hours and a lot of energy.

One thing you will need is reservations. With such stunning views overlooking the city, delicious food and drinks, and reasonable prices, you should plan on booking your seating months in advance, especially during the summer.

Location:

Srđ ul. 3, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Cave Bar More

What's it like:

Cave Bar More at the Hotel More is exactly what it says, More. You would not expect to have a bar in a cave that has a stunning view but this place has three levels in the cave which are built into the side of a cliff overlooking the Adriatic sea. Known as one of the best rooftop bars in Croatia, this place even has a white sandy beach. This incredibly stunning bar is inside Hotel More where you can also find several award-winning eateries. This is the ideal place to sit with friends and plan your next day trip from Dubrovnik. Grab your ideas and put them in place!

Our recommendation:

It is important to book your seat or you will likely not be getting one. The unique bar is on the Lapud Peninsula so you are surrounded by water, beaches, and amazing sights. Each of the three levels has its own special features but it is the top that has the best view as you enjoy your cocktails. From house wines to fancy cognac, they have something for every budget.

Location:

Šetalište Nika i Meda Pucića 12, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Buzz Bar

What's it like:

Not to be confused with either of the Buza Bars, the Buzz Bar is tucked away on a street by Stradun and is a popular spot with the locals who enjoy drinking cocktails as well as coffee all night long. They even have live music on Fridays starting at 9 PM. The view is incredible as well but note that you will not be on the roof at this one.

Our recommendation:

This is a busy local bar where you can expect to see the staff and owner enjoying the place together. It is a popular spot for local beer lovers featuring rare beer you cannot get anywhere else like Dva Klaska, San Servolo, and Zmajsko Pivo to name a few. They do not do reservations though so get there early. You will be within walking distance of the Church of St. Salvation, Dominikanski Samostan gothic church from 1225, and the Game of Thrones St. Ignatius.

Location:

Prijeko ul. 21, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Sunset Lounge

What's it like:

They call it the Sunset Lounge because it is the perfect place to see the sunset in Dubrovnik. It is on the 10th floor of the palace hotel and has floor-to-ceiling windows inside and unobstructed views of everything from the Grebeni Lighthouse to the Velika and Mala Petka Forest. Take a hike on the trails at the park before or after your visit to the Sunset Lounge.

Our recommendation:

You do not have to be a hotel guest to enjoy the hotel palace but you may want to consider booking your spot in advance. It is a famous place in Croatia to enjoy a cocktail or party and it will fill up fast, especially during the summer months. The food and drinks are incredible but the prices are a bit high. Right on the water in Lapad Bay, you can walk to the Romantic Seaview Point in the park, catch some rays at the Uvala Lapad Beach, or take a jet ski tour.

Location:

Masarykov put 20, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Blue Sky Lounge/On the Rocks

What's it like:

The Blue Sky Bar is an exclusive rooftop bar where you can enjoy everything from champagne cocktails to local beers. The view from the top of this five-star hotel is as incredible as the service. If you would rather enjoy a more casual spot to drink with a view, On the Rocks is on the beach with a true view of the Adriatic Sea.

Our recommendation:

Both of the bars at the Royal Blue Hotel are worth a visit but if you are not in the mood to dress up, On the Rocks Cocktail Bar & Lounge is a great place to watch the sunset while you sip cocktails. The fancier lounge on the roof will serve you as you sit in a lounge chair by the pool. You will enjoy breathtaking views and exceptional service with access to the beach and several restaurants as well.

Location:

Ul. kardinala Stepinca 31e, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
