Located on Philadelphia’s waterfront, Penn’s Landing is found along the edge of some of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, including Society Hill and Old City. Named for the founder of Pennsylvania, William Penn, the site commemorates his arrival to the state centuries ago. Now, Penn’s Landing is a popular riverside area that’s perfect for a walk and breath of fresh air. During the summertime, Penn’s Landing features a pop-up village that complete with a roller-skating rink, games, and Ferris wheel.
Fun Fact: William Penn’s actual landing site is 18 miles south at Chester, PA! Philadelphia later purchased the rights to use the name.
