Long Wharf is a historic pier located north of downtown Boston that had been a center for the shipping industry. Completed in 1721, Long Wharf was once one of the busiest in the nation, largely because of how it stretched into deeper waters. Originally half a mile in length, the wharf was able to cater to larger ships that would’ve otherwise been unable to dock in more shallow waters. Now, the wharf is a popular tourist destination and is largely used for passenger boats. Fun Fact: In the 18th century, Long Wharf made Boston the busiest port in America
