The beach clubs with…

The best reviews - The EDITION, Bodrum and Nikki Beach, Koh Samui (93% “excellent ” reviews)

Before you jet off to soak up the sun at a beach club, you’ll want to know what to expect, from prices to amenities, and the best way to do this is by looking through customer reviews. Two beach clubs share the top spot for their proportion of “excellent” reviews, with The EDITION, Bodrum, and Nikki Beach, Koh Samui, both at 93%.

The most Google searches - La Brisa, Bali (1,506,500 annual Google searches)

La Brisa in Bali takes the top spot for Google searches. Located on the Indonesian island's southeast coast, the beach club has racked up more than 1.5 million searches over the last 12 months. This could be thanks to its breathtaking decor, made from 500 disused boats.

The most food options - Marina Beach Club, Valencia (104 options)

The best beach clubs offer a wide variety of dining options, and many even come with Michelin-starred restaurants, so you won’t have to worry about leaving the beach to enjoy some of the best gastronomic delights each location offers. Valencia’s Marina Beach Club has the most food options, at a whopping 104.

The most Instagram posts - Ku De Ta, Bali (126,664)

Taking vacation photos of the picturesque locations you visit is the best way to make sure you can cherish the memories you made forever and share those memories with your friends. Bali’s Ku De Ta is the most picturesque beach club in our index, taking the top spot with more than 126,000 Instagram posts.

The most TikTok posts - La Brisa, Bali (3,981)

Thanks to its oceanfront location, shabby-chic design made from reclaimed wood, and plenty of quirky nooks to relax and unwind in, La Brisa, Bali has the most TikTok posts dedicated to it. It tops the list with 3,981 posts in total.

The cheapest sunbeds - Blue Apple Beach House, Cartagena ($5)

Beach clubs offer luxury experiences, but this luxury often comes with a high price tag. From expensive cocktails and meals to ticketed events, the cost of visiting a beach club can add up quickly. You won’t have to worry about spending too much at Cartagena’s Blue Apple Beach House, with a sun lounger on the beach costing just $5 for the whole day.

The most events - Scorpios, Mykonos (142 events)

Scorpios, on the Greek island of Mykonos, is the best beach club if you’re looking for entertainment and a lazy day in the sun, too. The beach club hosts 142 events throughout the season, mainly focusing on live music and DJ sets from artists such as Valeron who plays a weekly set every Saturday.

Cody Candee, CEO and Founder of Bounce, comments on the popularity of beach clubs:

“Beach clubs offer you the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind, whether you want to lounge in the sun, sip on cocktails, or feast on top-tier cuisine from the extensive menus. The picturesque locations of beach clubs also mean you take in the fantastic scenery surrounding them.

“Asian destinations rank particularly well in our index. Two beach clubs in Bali alone make the top five, with La Brisa taking the top spot. Dubai’s branch of Nommos also ranks highly. Mediterranean beach clubs are again some of the most popular, with destinations in Mykonos and Sardinia ranking third and fifth, respectively.”

Methodology

Beginning with a list of beach clubs taken from list articles, including CondéNaste Traveller, we analyzed each one on the following factors. We then gave each beach club a normalized score out of ten for each of the factors, before taking an average across each of these scores to reach our final overall score out of ten.

Proportion of "excellent" reviews: The total number of “excellent” reviews divided by the total number of reviews for each beach club according to Tripadvisor.

Instagram Posts: The total number of posts using the hashtag #[beach club] or #[beach club location] on Instagram.

TikTok Posts: The total number of posts using the hashtag #[beach club] or #[beach club location] on TikTok

Google Searches: The total number of Google searches for each beach club from April 2023 to March 2024 according to Google Ads Keyword Planner

Number of Dishes Available on Dinner Menu: The total number of dishes available on each beach club’s dinner menu, taken from each beach club’s website.

Due to the lack of complete data, sunbed hire cost and the number of events were excluded from the index.

Sunbed Hire Cost: The cost of a sun bed for one person for a day, according to each beach club’s website.

Number of Events: The total number of events each beach club will hold over the 2024 season, according to each beach club’s website.

All data correct as of 07/05/2024.
