Luggage Storage Near Manhattan Cruise Terminal

The city that doesn’t sleep really does have just about every source of entertainment you could think of, including cruises. These cruises begin and end at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, which was once known as the Port Authority Passenger Ship Terminal.

From there, cruise ship travelers can reach destinations, like Canada, the Caribbean, Bermuda and Europe. Naturally, these big ships sail past New York Harbor’s leading lady, the Statue of Liberty: There are few vantages points than on a boat to see her. Additionally, just about every cruise company, including Disney Cruises, sails in and out of this port.

This is a cool resource for ardent travelers but also for weekend cruisers. While many of the people taking cruises plan on being at sea for at least a week, it’s also possible to find a weekend cruise setting sail from here, too. These cruises take you out to sea and allow you to leave your life behind for a few days.

However, as enticing as this New York fun spot is, it does have a drawback. There is no place to leave your luggage once the cruise concludes. Fortunately, Bounce has plenty of partners in the area who offer luggage storage in Manhattan Cruise Terminal and in the area around it. Furthermore, our city partners offer bag storage in Manhattan Cruise Terminal at a more than decent price. Less than $6 a day is all it takes to stash your bags. Find a partner on your Bounce app.

About Manhattan Cruise Terminal

The Manhattan Cruise Terminal has been fully renovated and is now one of the most modern cruise terminals in the United States. Formerly known as the Port Authority Passenger Ship Terminal or the New York Passenger Ship Terminal, the Manhattan Cruise Terminal is located in the neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan, New York City. The terminal is open for ocean-going passenger ships to dock and be serviced. The terminal encompasses Pier 88 and Pier 90, allowing large cruise ships to come into the harbor and passengers to board or disembark. Through the years, millions of passengers have come through the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

The terminal was completed in 1935 and had four piers for ships to use. These four piers actually replaced the Chelsea Piers and allowed for more vessels to be served at one time. It was not until the early 2000s that additional ports were constructed to accommodate even more ships. The Cape Liberty Cruise Port was opened in 2004. The Manhattan Cruise Terminal was given its name in 2006 after the opening of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, and two of the piers were sold, causing the number of ships coming into the terminal to decrease.

With Piers 92 and 94 sold, only three ships can be accommodated at once at Piers 88 and 90. Several popular cruise lines use the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, including Carnival, Norwegian, Holland, Disney, Princess, and Cunard. Norwegian Cruise Line is the only one to use the terminal year-round.

Fun Fact: The Chelsea Piers, replaced by Piers 88 and 90, was the actual destination for the RMS Titanic, which sank on her maiden voyage in 1912.
