About the Upper East Side
Situated between Central Park and the East River from East 59th through East 96th streets, the Upper East Side is one of the most affluent neighborhoods not only in New York City, but also the country at large. It encompasses the smaller enclaves of Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill, and Yorkville. The Upper East Side is also home to Museum Mile, a stretch of some of the city’s finest and most frequently visited museums.
Fun fact: Alexander Hamilton died from his infamous duel with Aaron Burr in front of a fireplace that’s now installed at Gracie Mansion, the mayor’s official residence, located in Carl Schurz Park on East 88th Street.
Things to Do on the Upper East Side
