Milan Centrale Railway Station opened in 1931 to be a representation of the power of Benito Mussolini’s regime. It replaced the original station that had operated since the mid-19th century, and additions to the new terminus included more platforms and a high-arching steel roof.
Its immaculate façade is 660 feet wide and over 230 feet high, the world’s largest at the time of construction. The station features gorgeous statues, stone carvings, glass ceilings, and a mixture of architectural styles. In 2006, a renovation project helped maintain the elaborate artistic foundation that makes it one of Milan’s greatest achievements.
The station has 24 platforms, and riders can access the above ground concourses by using the lavish staircases, escalators, and elevators. When your train reaches the platform, you’ll see the station’s grandiose arched-roofs. The main concourse has plenty of eateries, cafés, bars, and shops to unwind before setting out on your Milan adventure.

Gae Aulenti Square: Roughly a 15-minute walk from the station, Gae Aulenti Square is the innovative, forward-thinking part of Milan. Argentine architect Cesar Pelli was the brains behind the reinvigoration of the Garibaldi, Isola, and Varesine districts.
Surrounded by contemporary skyscrapers, the square has lots of shops, bars, cafés, and eateries to keep you busy. The architectural highlight is the 231-meter Unicredit Tower which is the tallest structure in Italy. Climb the skyscraper for one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Milan.
If you visit the square by night, the modern buildings illuminate the sky and dazzle visitors with its colorful fountain. The Solar Tree is a must-see spectacle with its flower-shaped LED lights that are powered by solar energy.
There’s a humungous Italian supermarket to stock up on groceries for an extended stay, and Venchi Gelateria is a delightful place to grab authentic gelato. The square connects to Corso Como, a vibrant retail street where you can shop for fashion, music, artwork, and more.
Sforza Castle: Sforza Castle’s illustrious history began in the 15th century as a mighty fortress to protect the Visconti lords who ruled Milan in the Middle Ages. When they were ousted from power by the Golden Ambrosian Republic, it set the stage for Francesco Sforza to transform the castle into an opulent estate.
In the following decades, engineers constructed the Filarete Tower and decorated the residence with elaborate artwork. Leonardo da Vinci and other brilliant artists adorned the ceilings with magnificent frescoes. The castle also contains the Rondanini Pietà, Michelangelo’s last sculpture he worked on before his death.
Today, the grounds of the castle are well maintained and host a wide range of Milan’s cherished museums. One of the featured attractions is the Museum of Ancient Art with its sculptures from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Other institutions include the Museum of Musical Instruments, Archaeological Museum of Milan, and Trivulziana Library.
Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli: Located in the Porta Venezia district, Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli is one of Milan’s most historic urban parks. Nature lovers have lots of space to walk, jog, have a picnic, or lounge around the open spaces. The scenic paths surround a central pond, and locals bring the four-legged friends to the dog park.
There are playgrounds for the kids to burn off energy, and parents can stop by cafés for a refreshing drink. The grounds feature several statues and noteworthy tourist sites to spend an afternoon. Within the park, you’ll find the Milan Natural History Museum, Modern Art Gallery, and Italy’s most historic planetarium.
Convenient to the Met, which does not allow luggage at coat check. Very easy check in and check out process, with lovely people at the front!
This was so cool!!!! Great service, extremely easy to use, and totally affordable! I didn't know where I'd leave my luggage while we explored San Fran, so I easily Googled luggage storage and found this company. At first it was a little odd dropping my bag off at a chocolate store, but the lady at the register was able to immediately pull up my reservation without any problems and then she put a lock on my suitcase and gave me a card to get it back with. She pushed the bag to the back of their storage room and I came back about 6 hours later to pick it up. Great service, I will definitely be using this again when I travel!
Can’t believe I haven’t used this service until now. So easy & convenient. I 100% recommend.
I used Bounce during a recent trip to NYC, and I was pleasantly surprised at the ease and convenience of the process. To be honest, at first, I was very apprehensive. The thought of leaving your stuff at a random store, in a place where you are not from and you don't know whether is safe or not, it doesn't matter if anyone gives it a seal of approval, its difficult to be completely comfortable with the idea. However, I was very glad to be proven wrong. The place I chose was a great, clean bodega/deli in Soho and they were very responsive and the whole process felt very seamless. It was our last day in NYC and we had the full day before leaving the city, however our Airbnb was on the upper east side so we did not want to have to go back and forth. I would definitely recommend Bounce for travelers, especially when you need a place to just store your luggage for the day. The price could not be beat (since its for the whole day) and I will definitely be using this again!
Fantastic experience with Bounce! Stored a bag at the Grand Central location and on my last day at the 9/11 Memorial location. Both locations had friendly, efficient staff that were helpful and made everything very easy. Such a great option if your hotel isn't ready or you don't want the hassle of a bag in the city. Great, safe option. Thanks Bounce!
